SIGN ON BONUS AVAILABLE

The Registered Respiratory Therapist assesses patient's condition and need for respiratory care; provides appropriate therapy in designated critical and all non-critical areas according to the physician order. Set up and maintains appropriate ventilator support. Performs diagnostic studies and evaluates results as they relate to the patient.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Set up and maintains ventilatory support of both adult and children in all critical care and emergency areas. Make changes and wean patient in concert with physician`s order.

  • Assist physician with bronchoscopy at bedside. Appropriately label and transport specimens to lab for analysis.

  • Administer noninvasive respiratory care modalities to all patients per physician's order or Respiratory-driven protocol.

  • Evaluate patient and document assessment in medical record and consult with physician when necessary.

  • Perform arterial puncture on adult and children, and interpret results.

  • Perform diagnostic studies such as home oxygen study, CO2 monitoring, and bedside PFTs.

  • Serve as a member of the "Code Blue" and "Rapid Response" team.

  • Participate in department and hospital based educational activities.

PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS:

Sitting up to two hours per day

  • 1 hour increments. Standing up to 3 hours per day

  • 1 hour increments. Walking up to 12 hours per day

  • 15 minute increments. Frequently uses fingers to manipulate small vials, equipment, etc.

    Continuous use of hands for writing and operating respiratory equipment. Continuous twisting/turning of hands and body to provide patient care. Occasional lifting of boxes and equipment up to 25 pounds.

    Frequently carrying of objects/equipment up to 25 pounds.

    Frequent pushing/pulling of equipment or patients up to 300 pounds.

    Frequent stooping/bending.

    Occasional crouching. Occasional reaching above shoulder level. Ability to palpate arteries, feel skin temperature, etc.

    Hearing as it relates to normal, high and low frequencies. Seeing as it relates to general, far, near, color, and peripheral vision. Depth perception.

EDUCATION:

Current License as a Respiratory Therapist in a State of Pennsylvania. Received credentials through the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

Minimum of 6 months clinical experience, either concurrent with training program or post-graduation.

The Patient Care Assistant participates in data collection, planning and implementation of patient care. JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: * Performs the following tasks as assigned: * Vital signs * Intake and output measurements * EKGs * Glucometry * Phlebotomy * Specimen collection * Documentation for all assigned responsibilities * Follows treatment plan as directed by licensed personnel. * Performs necessary functions to ensure patient comfort and satisfaction with service * Performs patient mobilization using appropriate and proper body mechanics and assistive device * Accepts responsibility for providing safe, appropriate, quality patient care * Communicates changes in patients' conditions and unit concerns with the unit based team * Restocks unit supplies as needed * Performs equipment checks and unit specific maintenance duties as appropriate to unit * Takes active role in unit based performance improvement. * Maintains awareness of unit budget * Maintains responsibility for own professional development through active participation in in-services and/or continuing education programs as well as timely completion of competencies * Assists in orienting and educating new staff PHYSICAL AND SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Sit up to 7 hours per day; 1 hour at a time. Stand for up to 10 hours per day; 8 hours at a time. Walk 6 hours per day; 10 minutes at a time. Consistently lift, carry and push objects up to 10 lbs. Occasionally lift, carry and push objects up to 75 lbs. Transport patients weighing up to 400 lbs. via wheelchair, bed and/or stretcher. Frequently stoop and bend. Frequently reach above should level. Must be able to perceive attributes of an object through touch. Must be able to hear as it relates to normal conversation, and high and low frequencies. Must be able to see as it relates to general, near, far, color and peripheral vision. EDUCATION: High School diploma or equivalent required. Health care specialty training preferred. TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE: Individualized orientation program for all areas. Obtain BLS certification within sixty (60) days of employment or transfer to position. Basic computer skills required.
