Respiratory Therapist Requirements:

  • Must be a graduate of an accredited respiratory care school. Illinois License as a Respiratory Therapist and RRT/CRT credential per NBRC.

  • Data entry experience.

  • General computer competency; typing 45 word per minute.

  • General Microsoft office software skills.

  • Customer service focused.

  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Clear written and spoken communication.

  • Excellent time management skills.

  • Exercises good judgment and decision making.

  • Previous relevant experience preferred.

  • Excellent human relation skills with the ability to communicate effectively with staff, patients, and physicians.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Knowledge and adherence to Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.

  • Strong working knowledge of most up-to-date therapy procedures for patients

  • Excellent bedside manner

  • Must have a valid IL driver's license and clean driving record.

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Administer medically prescribed respiratory therapy, while following AARC Best Practices Guidelines.

  • Meets patient's goals and needs and provides quality care by assessing and interpreting evaluations and test results; determining respiratory therapy treatment plans in consultation with physicians and by prescription.

  • Helps patient accomplish treatment plans through extensive patient/caregiver education of oxygen therapy, PAP therapy and NIV.

  • Evaluates effects of respiratory therapy treatment plan by observing, noting, and evaluating patient's progress; recommending adjustments and modifications.

  • Provides customer in-home setups and location visits

  • Documents and reports the patient's status to the prescribing physician as required.

  • Documents and maintains the patient's clinical status and current patient information in medical

software programs.

  • Ensures all patient documentation is completed accurately and submitted in the required time frame.

  • Maintains patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.

  • Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.

  • Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies and maintaining a current Illinois State license.

  • Complies with federal, state, and local legal and certification requirements by studying existing and new legislation; anticipating future legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements.

  • Communicates and coordinates collection of patient deductible and co-payments.

  • Collaborate with Clinical Services staff to provide a high level of customer service to our patients.

  • Coordinates follow up physician appointments to ensure face to face visits are completed in a timely fashion.

  • Complete follow-up calls to patients.

  • Responds to customer requests courteously and with respect

  • Approaches customers and inquiries in a manner which represents ownership

  • Resolves customer complaints by investigating problems and making recommendations to executive leadership

  • Refers troubleshooting calls to appropriate department

  • Reports any patient or referral related problems to Department Manager immediately

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with referral sources to include education on medical equipment qualification and policy changes

  • Promote company program and services to assigned referral source.

  • Meets monthly and quarterly productivity goals

  • Adherence to the Prism Health Care Services' Employee Handbook

  • Adherence to Prism Health Care Services' Policies and Procedures

  • Supports the mission, vision and strategic plan of the organization.

  • Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results

  • Communicates necessary information to the Manager and Co-workers

  • Assumes on-call responsibilities for phone consultations or home visits during non-business hours

  • Works on weekends when required

  • Attend in-service training when required

  • Performs other duties as assigned
