Hours: 8:30 AM-5:00 PM, Monday-FridayAvailability: Open to both part time (4 days/week) and full-time (5 days/week) candidates

Note: We are not able to accommodate 10-hour workdays currently.Independence: Enjoy the freedom of working in the field, providing education and support to patients in their homes.Flexibility: While on-call duties primarily involve phone interventions, occasional home visits after hours may be required-though these are rare.Patient-Centered Care: Educate patients and caregivers on managing respiratory conditions and using prescribed therapies, all while being a trusted resource for their health journey.

Assigned Territory:

Northwest and Chicago Northside Suburbs. This position primarily covers the Northwest Suburbs, focusing on patient admissions in home environments and clinical settings like hospitals and physician offices. While most of the work is within this territory, occasional visits outside the area may be required for scheduling or on-call needs. Additionally, you may cover other locations for scheduled visits or team member vacations, though these instances are rare.

Requirements for a Home Care Respiratory Therapist:

Education & Certification:Associate Degree

  • Required from an accredited respiratory therapy program.Licensure

  • Must hold an Illinois License as a Respiratory Therapist.Credentials

  • Must have CRT (Certified Respiratory Therapist) and RRT (Registered Respiratory Therapist) certifications per the NBRC standards.Clinical Skills and Experience:Patient Assessment & Care

  • Capable of evaluating a wide range of respiratory conditions.Clinical Procedures

  • Proficient in educating and engaging patients in plans of care for oxygen, PAP, non-invasive ventilation, cough assist, Afflovest, and other respiratory treatments.Documenting Clinical Progress

  • Must accurately document clinical progress notes in the patient's medical record.Computer Proficiency

  • Strong general computer skills, including data entry and Microsoft Office software. Ability to type at least 45 words per minute.Communication

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills.Customer Service

  • A patient-focused approach, ensuring high-quality care and support.Interpersonal Skills

  • Ability to interact effectively with patients, families, staff, and physicians.Organizational Skills

  • Up to date with the latest respiratory therapy practices and procedures.HIPAA Compliance

  • Knowledgeable about and adherent to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act.Preferred Experience

  • Previous relevant experience in respiratory therapy or related fields is advantageous.

Job Responsibilities for Home Care Respiratory Therapist :

Educate patients and caregivers about their prescribed respiratory therapy, including oxygen therapy, PAP therapy, Non-Invasive Ventilation, Cough Assist, Afflovest and other respiratory equipment.Provide information on managing their disease state and understanding the use and maintenance of equipment.Evaluate patient needs and progress, ensuring thorough documentation in electronic medical software.Report patient status and any significant changes to the prescribing physician.Customer Service & Communication:Conduct in-home visits and offer high-quality customer service, addressing patient inquiries and concerns.Ensure clear communication with patients, families, and healthcare providers.Maintain a safe and clean working environment, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines.Ensure confidentiality and proper handling of patient information in accordance with The Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).Professional Development & Coordination:Stay informed on the latest industry practices and maintain professional credentials.Collaborate with Clinical Services staff and referral sources, promoting company services and ensuring coordinated care.Meet clinical productivity and compliance goals and adhere to company policies and procedures.Participate in on-call duties and attend in-service training as required.Support the organization's mission and vision through teamwork and effective communication.
