Job Title: Respiratory Therapist
Position Type: Staff Per Diem Day Shift
Respiratory Therapist Job Summary:
Under the supervision of the Respiratory Clinical Manager, the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) will perform all the duties of a Respiratory Therapist; i.e., aerosol therapy, IPPB, CPT, ABG's, oxygen therapy, ventilator care, resuscitations, overnight oximetry, and sleep studies, etc. In addition, will participate in continuing education and department programs as required; i.e., orientation of new employees, involvement in Pulmonary Rehab, Asthmatic Clinic, community lung screenings, etc.
Performs, but is not limited to, all the following respiratory procedures: aerosol therapy, IPPB, CPT, ABG's, oxygen therapy, overnight oximetry, sleep studies, mechanical ventilator care, resuscitations; adult and neonatal.
Clinical assessment on all patients on respiratory services with appropriate recommendations to attending or ordering physicians.
Actively participates in department inservice educational programs.
Flexible and willing to rotate shifts or work odd schedules as needed.
Orients new employees and/or students to department as requested.
Acts as a resource of respiratory clinical area in absence of manager.
Participates in clinical research projects and programs as requested.
Currently licensed in the state of Connecticut required.
Associates degree from an accredited respiratory therapy program required.
Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) by NBRC required.
Current AHA Healthcare Provider CPR certification or equivalent within 3 months of hire required.
