Position Description

Provides respiratory care for patients in adult and/or neonatal care. Employees may perform ECG, EEG, pulmonary function testing, & bronchoscopy and any other testing as deemed within the scope of practice by national standards.

Position Requirements

Required: 1. Graduation from an accredited respiratory care program with an Associate's degree or equivalent and RRT credentialed by the National Board for Respiratory Care. 2.

CRT or CRTT that have graduated from an accredited respiratory care program, greater than 5 years' experience at Northside Hospital and that are not on a Performance Improvement Plan will be allowed to continue employment. 3. Certified in Basic Life Support (BLS) and/or Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) by the American Heart Association. NRP is only required when rotating to the NICU or attending deliveries. 4. Maintains proficiency in arterial blood sampling techniques as prescribed by the hospital and/or JCAHO.

We're defining a new standard of care for humankind. Are YOU ready to join us? Description JOB DESCRIPTION: Provides respiratory care to patients in acute, chronic, and emergency situations. Performs routine ventilatory and artificial airway treatments in the critical and general care areas. Assists physicians and performs routine respiratory care activities as necessary. Administers aerosolized medications and other respiratory treatments. Performs other related duties as required. Selects, assembles, and checks respiratory care equipment for proper function, operation, and cleanliness; performs minor repairs to correct malfunctions. Works with manager to formulate plan for professional development. Attends educational in-services as appropriate. Participates in professional activities and organizations to maintain knowledge of current trends, practices, and developments. Accurately and completely documents respiratory care by following the established charting procedure to show the patient's progress or any changes in the patient's condition. Practices universal and/or specialized precautions in the daily cleaning and sterilization of work surfaces, equipment, and instruments. May conduct in-service educational programs related to the provision of respiratory care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduate of an AMA school. Eligible to take the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) Exam. Licensed as a Respiratory Care Professional (RCP) by the state of Georgia. BLS certification required. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS (Medium): 20-50 lbs; 0-33% of the work day (occasionally); 11-25 lbs, 34-66% of the workday (frequently); 01-10 lbs, 67-100% of the workday (constantly); Lifting 50 lbs max; Carrying of objects up to 25 lbs; Occasional to frequent standing & walking, Occasional sitting, Close eye work (computers, typing, reading, writing), Physical demands may vary depending on assigned work area and work tasks. ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS: Factors affecting environment conditions may vary depending on the assigned work area and tasks. Environmental exposures include, but are not limited to: Blood-borne pathogen exposure Bio-hazardous waste Chemicals/gases/fumes/vapors Communicable diseases Electrical shock , Floor Surfaces, Hot/Cold Temperatures, Indoor/Outdoor conditions, Latex, Lighting, Patient care/handling injuries, Radiation , Shift work, Travel may be required.
