JOB SUMMARY

Provides simple and complex respiratory services, including but not limited to ventilatory management, blood gas collection and analysis, airway management, oxygen therapy, treatment protocols, etc. CRT/LPH does not intubate, cover L&D, cover ICU, or Pediatric advance care units. CRT/LPH works collaboratively with the team member to deliver high quality respiratory services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Initiates, maintains, and monitors mechanical ventilation, maintains patent airway (suction, bag-mask)

Weans patients from ventilatory support in accordance with Mechanical Ventilation Weaning Protocol

Equipment: cleaning of non disposable items. Performs other duties as assigned.

Provides arterial blood gas puncture (pre-analytical, analytical, post analytical reporting)

Provides education, computer order entry, lung expansion, aerosol therapy, airway clearance medications

Sets up Non invasive therapy including oximetry, capnography, and lung mechanics measurement

Medical gas therapy that includes low/high flow oxygen, high humidity, and helix therapy

Follows all infection control practices, universal precautions, and blood Bourne policies

PFT bedside tests, spontaneous parameters, EMR documentation, discharge planning.

Delivers on our Promise by always demonstrating excellent patient experience behaviors. Conveys compassion and respect for the patient/customer and co-worker. Consistently delivers the nursing 5 must haves to include: purposeful hourly rounding, using whiteboard as tool for patient communication, bedside shift report/handoff , "M" in the box - explanation about medication, no pass zone rule and AIDET. Consistent utilizes the other Mercy Health customer experience tools including 5 Foot/10 Foot rule, iCare and Caring Out Loud. (Note: Failure to perform satisfactorily in this essential function will block incumbent from a satisfactory performance evaluation rating.)

Required Minimum Education: Specialty/Major: Allied Health/Respiratory Care

Preferred Education: Specialty/Major: Allied Health/Respiratory Care

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS (must be non-expired/active unless otherwise stated):

Required: Graduate AMA RC Program, or CRT from NBRC, or Ohio issued RCP license, or Ohio issued Limited Permit

Required: BLS

Preferred: ACLS, NRP, PALS certifications

Additional Information:

  • Will float between SEYH, SEBH and SJWH as needed.

  • Will work holidays, weekend and night coverage as required to meet staffing need
