Primary Duties and Responsibilities
Performs routine and complex Respiratory Therapy for Adult, Pediatric, and Neonatal patients. Work in all adult and pediatric/NICU critical care areas (provided an opportunity for training occurs). Performs duties or projects assigned by the Director, Assistant Director, Clinical Specialist, and/or Shift Supervisor. Under the supervision of the RT IV Neo/PEDS Transport Clinical Specialist, The RT III Clinical Supervisors, and RT IV Assistant Director. The RT will assume responsibility and accountability in the provision of advanced and complex respiratory care for Adult, neonatal, and pediatric patients during the inpatient care and transport process. After completing supervised clinical training, care for these patients will include the application and utilization of advanced practice skills. Educational opportunities will include the training of new employees; and in-servicing staff on new equipment and techniques, Customer service, communication, and public relations are key aspects of this position. May be required to work in any area of the Health System. May require rotating shifts Day/Night.
Salary $46.22 - $60.98 /hour

Job Qualifications
Preferred:
Previous experience intubating neonates within the last year
Competent in using the oscillator and nitric oxide on neonates
3 years NICU/L&D experience and can function independently in the NICU
Willing to work in Adults and PEDs
Educational Requirements:
Associate degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar
Bachelor's Degree in Respiratory Therapy or similar
Licenses/Certifications:
Physical Demands:
Demonstrated knowledge and skill in all theories and practices of current Respiratory Therapy
Skill in organizing work efficiently.
Ability to determine appropriate modes of care when provided with a care plan by physician.
Ability to communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and co-workers. Listen perceptively to instructions or information.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in written form.
Skill in set-up, monitoring and troubleshooting all Respiratory Equipment.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with personnel and ancillary medical personnel.
Ability to interact humanistically and professionally with a diverse group of patients, visitors, and co-workers and other medical center staff as part of a team.
Skill in setting priorities, which accurately reflect relative importance of job responsibilities. Working independently with minimal direction to achieve optimal results.
Ability to perform more than one task simultaneously and respond positively to temporary changes in work schedule.
Ability to provide excellent service, promote customer satisfaction, provide quality care and create a positive, progressive and friendly environment throughout the entire UCLA Healthcare Community, while maintaining the confidentiality of patients, their families at all times (i.e., during and after work).
Ability to perform the following activities using proper body mechanics.
Stand and or walk 75% of the 12-hour work day.
Sit, push, kneel, crouch and reach for extended periods of time.
Transfer a patient weighing a minimum of 100 lbs. using equipment or with assistance.
Lift, push, pull, and carry a minimum of 35 lbs.
