OverviewThe Therapeutic Specialist will be responsible for achieving and maximizing territory and account sales goals through profit focused account management, high level clinical proficiency and effective selling. ResponsibilitiesThe Therapeutic Specialist will be the primary point of contact from Sunovion with key decision makers and physicians across functional business channels.

This would include hospitals, retail sales other market channels relevant to business needs. The Therapeutic Specialist will be responsible for complying with all legal and regulatory compliance requirements established by Sunovion and governing the sale and promotion of its pharmaceutical products. QualificationsCandidate must possess significant customer knowledge and understand the business channels and the business needs of each target within their defined territory (quality improvement, patient care demographics, protocols, reimbursement). The candidate must be able to facilitate relevant discussions on the clinical and economic benefits of Sunovion promoted products and work closely with sales, marketing, OCG and leadership to present consistent data to the customer.

The candidate must also possess advanced account management skills including but not limited to: leadership, communication, negotiation and influence. This position requires a Bachelor's degree, preferably in business or life sciences (MBA a plus), 3+ years of pharmaceutical sales experience, including account management, hospital sales, and demonstrated mastery of Respiratory/Pulmonary or other specialty disease state knowledge preferred. Knowledge of reimbursement channels is essential.

Candidates must have excellent presentation & organizational skills and be proficient with a PC (PowerPoint, Word, Excel and sales force automation systems). Travel within territory required may include both car and air travel depending upon territory. Some national travel to corporate headquarters, training and sales meetings may also be required on a periodic basis. Work hours may include meetings scheduled outside of normal working hours.

This position conducts patient assessments and provides recommendations regarding care, serves as a resource person and specialist and provides assistance with departmental activities, quality improvement and development of best practice guidelines. Essential Functions Reviews labs, patient history and physician orders to determine appropriate line to be utilized for the procedure and/or identify potential issues that may arise or preclude the patient from being a viable candidate or require alternate form of vascular access. Collaborates with physicians to determine appropriate long-term access needs. Obtains patients authorization to perform the procedure. Inserts and maintains PICC lines and/or simple central lines in the neck and peripheral according to department policy and procedures, to include dressing changes, line reviews and declotting. Utilizes ultrasound technology, advanced knowledge of anatomy and specialized insertion techniques to ensure accurate insertion of the central line. Reviews chest x-rays to ensure accurate placement of the central venous catheter or device. Maintains sterile field throughout the insertion process to ensure quality outcomes. Maintains accurate, timely and appropriate documentation. Participates in ongoing monitoring of quality initiatives, department database, appropriateness and effectiveness of bundle compliance, acts as a change agent and participates in the development, interpretation, implementation and evaluation of quality goals/objective and quality management activities within the clinical service lines. May coordinate oversight of quality and safety standards, regulatory and accreditation requirements, as well as applicable professional standards. Acts as a resource to therapists and other healthcare practitioners regarding patient status, equipment and operational issues. Participates in interdisciplinary rounding, making recommendations for changes in therapy dictated by the patients condition. Provides training, orientation and patient education to staff, patients and families, in accordance with policy and practice guidelines. Assists in the development of departmental policies and procedures based on best practice. Assures the efficient operation of workflow of the department. Monitors and maintains an adequate inventory of supplies and material to ensure non-interruption of services. Proof of good standing with the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). A current license in state practiced as required by state law. Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required. In-depth knowledge of clinical techniques, applications and equipment as typically obtained through 3 years of clinical experience as a RRT, including one year of peripheral venous or arterial catheter insertion. Must possess highly effective human relation skills necessary to interface with patients, families, staff and other healthcare personnel.
