  • Danbury Hospital, New Milford Hospital, Norwalk Hospital and Sharon Hospital in Connecticut, and Northern Dutchess Hospital, Putnam Hospital Center and Vassar Brothers Medical Center in New York.

Summary:

Provides assistance with patient care activities and other tasks under the general supervision of licensed professional staff and as directed by the manager. Population served based on scope of services within the department. Takes responsibility for own work and actions, works in timely manner, respectful of patients and co-workers.

Responsibilities:

1.Responsible for providing technical and supportive respiratory services under the supervision of a licensed respiratory therapist.

2.Must possess working knowledge of routine respiratory care and has exhibited age specific competencies in his/her educational program.

3.Follows policy and procedure for assigned patient care activities, including unit specific equipment and standards.

4.Enters accurate and timely data into the computer system as applicable.

5.Assists with care and maintenance of departmental equipment. Processes dirty equipment by cleaning, disinfecting and sterilizing according to departmental, hospital and infection control policies and procedures.

6.Responds to emergency codes/situations immediately and ensures the adequate maintenance of ventilation during cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR) by performing in a calm and professional manner.

7.May perform the following tasks at the discretion of an RT upon the completion of validated competency: - Provide patient education materials

  • Assists with patient-focused education using the Teach Back Method

  • Assists with routine tracheostomy care - collecting samples - monitoring patients during treatments - setting up equipment and performing diagnostic procedures.

8.Maintain and Model Nuvance Health Values.

9.Demonstrates regular, reliable and predictable attendance.
