ABOUT THE POSITION
The Riverside University Medical Center seeks Respiratory Care Practitioner II's to join our team. The job posting will serve to fill all regular full-time and Per Diem positions that become available in our Respiratory Therapy and Cardiopulmonary Rehab and Wellness Units. Incumbants assgined to the Cardiopulmonary Rehab and Wellness Unit will perform all Respiratory Therapy modalities. The most competitive candidates will have experience performing patient assessments, consulting with providers to develop patient treatment plans, performing diagnostic testing, treating patients with a variety of methods, and monitoring, recording and discussing rehab progress with their patients. Typically employees assigned to this unit work a 5/8 Monday - Friday.
Incumbants assgined to the Respiratory Therapy Unit will perform all Respiratory Therapy modalities. The most competitive candidates will understand modes of ventilation and will have experience drawing and analyzing blood gases, performing patient assessment, airway maintenance and responding to the Rapid Response Team and Code Blue calls. Typically employees assigned to this unit work a 6/12 schedule with rotating weekends.

EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES
Perform the full range of respiratory care services as prescribed by a physician, perform basic respiratory patient assessments, and monitor patients undergoing respiratory care.
Provide and monitor mechanical ventilatory support.
Report changes in patient's condition to medical or nursing personnel and make recommendations to physicians and nursing personnel when change in care is indicated.
Perform CPR, perform arterial punctures, and blood gas analysis.
Record information in the patient's medical record and provide patient/family education and instruction in respiratory care, as needed.
Provide instruction in respiratory techniques to other personnel, as needed.
Routinely assigned to all critical care environments.
Assume supervisory duties in the absence of a Supervising RCP, perform daily blood gas laboratory quality controls and maintenance procedures, and required to make shift workload and duty assignments.
Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with an Associate of Science Degree in Respiratory Therapy and Ssccessful completion of a Respiratory Therapy training program approved by the American Medical Association.
Experience: None required.
License: Possession of a current, valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license issued by the Respiratory Care Board, California State Department of Consumer Affairs.
Certificate: Recognition by the National Board for Respiratory Care as a Registered Respiratory Therapist.
For Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy Assignments: A minimum of two years in Wound or Hyperbaric experience in an acute care hospital is preferred.
Knowledge of: Principles and practices used in the operation of respiratory care treatments and equipment; signs and symptoms of cardiopulmonary diseases; patient assessments and documentation of observations in medical records.
Ability to: Use respiratory care equipment and techniques for effective treatment of a variety of cardiopulmonary diseases; identify and intervene with minor repairs on various respiratory equipment; follow both oral and written instructions of the physician and hospital staff; effectively communicate with other members of the healthcare team; instruct others in the proper use and operation of respiratory care equipment or techniques.
Per Diem Benefits and Hourly Rate (for Per Diem positions only):
For the first 1,000 hours of work in a fiscal year, the employee is enrolled in and contributes to the County Temporary/Part-Time Employees' Retirement Plan, which is a 401(a) defined benefit pension plan. The County also contributes to the 401(a) on behalf of the employee.
During this time, neither the employee nor the County pays into Social Security, and the employee is not enrolled in CalPERS. After 1,000 hours of work in any fiscal year, the employee and County stop contributing to the 401(a) and begin to pay into Social Security. The employee is also enrolled in CalPERS and begins to make contributions.
TAP HOURLY RATE: $36.5330
