JOB SUMMARY: Works with physicians to develop treatment plans.
Applies respiratory care procedures upon physician's orders.
Strong knowledge of the critical care patient in need of specialized respiratory care.
Must have strong problem-solving skills to access and evaluate a patient's symptoms, recommend and administer appropriate treatments.
Participates in On-Call rotation and available to work at Morganton and Valdese Hospital.
Performs test procedures, safety, information systems, equipment care, training and other necessary duties; resolves technical problems and supplies possible solutions, effectively communicates with customers and colleagues.
Performs job duties beyond respiratory care as necessary to ensure the provision of safe, quality patient care in the free-standing Emergency Department setting.
Knowledge of life span growth and development and ability to interpret data to identify age-appropriate treatment and special needs required.
Ensures adherence to the Corporate Compliance Program.
Performs other related duties as deemed appropriate.
QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduate of an accredited two-year program (CoARC accredited school). AS degree preferred.
Experience: Two years of patient care experience preferred.
License/Registration: Licensed by the North Carolina Board for Respiratory Care; Registered by the National Board for Respiratory Care.
CRT eligible to sit for RRT and successfully obtain within six months of hire.
Other: Current CPR (BLS); ACLS, PALS; NRP issued by the American Heart Association is required.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Requires range of motion within functional limits.
Requires full range of body motion, including handling/lifting patients, manual/finger dexterity and eye-hand coordination.
Requires functional vision and hearing . Requires standing/walking for extensive periods of time with bending, stooping/stretching.
Frequently lift/carry patients and/or items weighing 50 lbs or more.

VIEW JOBS 1/15/2019 12:00:00 AM 2019-04-15T00:00 Description of Work Health Care Technician I / CNA Broughton Hospital is currently accepting Health Care Technician I / CNA applications for all shifts. The primary focus of this position is to monitor patients who have been diagnosed with a mental illness and/or co-occuring substance abuse diagnosis, implement specific goals identified in the patient treatment plans, and perform basic nursing care within the scope of a Certified Nurse Aide (CNA). Work involves ongoing contact with individuals who may be diagnosed with a wide spectrum of psychiatric and/or developmental conditions that may include unpredictable and maladaptive behaviors. Work is performed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse which functions as part of a multidisciplinary team. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * Obtaining vital signs * Training and assisting patients with activities of daily living * Maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment * Providing ongoing observation, interaction, and feedback to patients * Reporting concerns and recommendations to the appropriate professional program staff * Other duties as delegated by and completed under the supervision of a Registered Nurse The normal work schedule is Monday through Friday, working every other weekend and alternating holidays. However, flexibility is required for training and education purposes and to meet hospital needs. This position is essential to hospital operations and will be required to work during adverse weather events. The following shift hours and pay additions are offered: Work Schedule Shift Premium 1st Shift: 7:00am–3:30pm 5% Weekend Only 2nd Shift: 3:00pm–11:30pm 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend 3rd Shift: 11:00pm-7:30am 20% Weekday & 25% Weekend Broughton Hospital provides in-house training for selected applicants who are not currently Certified Nurse Aides (CNA). During our six-week CNA program employees will participate in classroom instruction, in-service training, job shadowing, and clinicals. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing the Nurse Aide-I program and obtaining Certification as a Nurse Aide. All hired staff will also attend BLS/CPR training, Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) training, and Hospital Approved Techniques (HAT) training during orientation. About the Facility: Broughton Hospital operates 297 beds and is one of the three regional psychiatric hospitals with statutory responsibility for operating as part of the Division of State Operated Healthcare Facilities (DSOHF). With the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services, we provide help and support to North Carolinians, and their families, experiencing mental illness. Our hospital serves the western thirty-seven (37) counties of North Carolina, as part of the state's system of care and treatment for persons with mental illness. Construction is currently underway for a new facility that will include 382 beds. Salary Grade GN04 ; Recruitment Range $31,200.00 - $40,450.00 Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies To receive credit for all of your work history and credentials, you must list the information on the application form.
