ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. As teacher, implements goals and objectives of a student's IEP; on a regular basis, monitors progress in the Resource Specialist Program (RSP) and in the classroom. 2.

Has thorough knowledge of subject matter taught in RSP and classroom. 3. Utilizes teaching methods which are individualized to encourage independence, logical thinking, and individual expression. 4. Through positive actions, maintains appropriate control and discipline ensuring compliance with applicable statues, Charter and District policy; ensures a physical and emotional environment conducive to learning. 5.

Ensures appropriate emphasis on academic achievement, career and vocational development, preparation for adult life. 6. As RSP Coordinator/Consultant, Works with classroom teachers in the identification and assessment of learning and behavioral patterns in pupils, as well as providing classroom management techniques as it related to special needs students. 7. Works with parents in areas related to their student's abilities, needs and goals, including academic and career/vocational options. 8.

Develops, schedules and conducts appropriate assessments (including IEP meetings) for identified students, ensuring program implementation in the RSP and regular classroom. 9. Working with the Director of Special Education, plans, coordinates and conducts staff development activities for PCHS personnel and workshops for parents. 10. Other duties as assigned. OTHER SKILLS: • California Credential authorizing RSP • Commitment to, and experience in working with individuals from diverse backgrounds; ability to interact and effectively communicate with persons of all educational levels and backgrounds • Ability to provide services in a courteous and professional manner • Safe work practices, including proper lifting techniques • Ability to use a personal computer in a Windows-based operating system; knowledge of MS Word and Excel • Ability to follow written and oral d
