Position Summary & Responsibilities
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Incumbent provides armed security, performs access control, asset protection and surveillance monitoring; responds to critical situations and takes appropriate action(s). Writes reports on daily activities, including reports, and access control logs. Interacts with military personnel, public officials, agency employees, and visitors to complex on regular basis.
Qualifications
Requires proof of High school graduation or equivalent.
Minimum Qualifications:
Minimum age of 21,
Valid Kansas driver license with no court ordered restrictions is required.
Must be able to pass a KBI background check and current NCIC/CJIS security awareness certification.
Requires the use of a firearm for duties, with no convictions or diversions from a felony or misdemeanor domestic violence crime as set forth in 18 U.S.C -922 (d)(9)and (g)(9).
Must be able to complete required forms, logs, and reports in a legible manner, according to instructions.
Must speak distinctly and have a high attention to details.
Must qualify on pistol and long gun semi-annually as a condition of employment and should be familiar with small arms safety and use.
Must re-certify annually on proper security responses.
Must have the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Defense Security Clearance as a condition of employment.
Must be in good physical condition with the ability to work long hours under difficult and arduous conditions when emergencies are declared by an authorized agent. Must have the ability to act independently, respond calmly and consistently in emergencies or stressful situations with minimal supervision.
Requires physical inspection of complex doors to prevent unauthorized access, which requires physical foot patrol in some areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
One (1) year Security experience is preferred.
Must participate in and successfully pass a drug screen as part of the State of Kansas Drug Screening Program as a condition of employment after a conditional offer of employment. Once hired, you must qualify with a 9mm handgun using the Kansas Commission on Peace Officers Standards and Training guidelines
