SUMMARY

Under general supervision of a Director, is responsible for providing assistance to families in understanding illness and disabilities. Helps to resolve personal, financial, and environmental difficulties that add to the challenges of providing care for a child with special needs. Enables and empowers families to advocate appropriately. Works in accordance with Adapt Community Network policies, rules and requirements of applicable regulatory agencies and the standards of the profession.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities of the Resource Librarian will include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Establish and follow library activities.

  • Maintain a clean and organized library.

  • Maintain the inventory of the items of the library.

  • Collect data about the loans and maintain files for them during the fiscal year.

  • Establish and schedule library activities.

  • The library staff interfaces in learning activities with all 4410 classrooms where they are located.

  • The library staff facilitate loans and use of Ipads and the Promethean Boards

  • SHARE library staff functions as a library resource for all staff in our programs

  • Expose the students and the staff to switches and adapted toys.

  • Facilitate viable learning activities and opportunities in the three libraries.

  • For individuals who are limited either by fine motor skills or by minimal motivation, the librarian and librarian aids encourage that they be made aware that switches can help in these areas.

  • The Share staff show by demonstration how switches can improve the cause-and-effect process.

  • Introducing assistive technology can help operate an adapted toy or help a student interact with the Smartboard and / or the Promethean Board with less effort.

  • Performs other related duties as requested.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.

  • Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

  • Good interpersonal skills necessary to interact effectively with coworkers, employees, children and their families, and outside contacts.

  • Proficiency in the use of a computer and knowledge of appropriate software

  • Due to sensitive nature of the position, must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.

  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks.

  • Ability to analyze problems and determine corrective measures

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma

  • One year of related experience is preferred.

COMPENSATION: $40,000 Annually + Industry Leading Benefits!
