The Position:

The IvyCares Resource Coach will be expected to collaborate and attend meetings with community and college partners while working to integrate services for students that focus on creating self- sufficiency (educational attainment; debt resolution; sustainable, economically beneficial employment; financial management).

The Resource Coach will have coordination responsibilities for the student intake and case management processes within the office. The Coach will provide services to students based upon the pillars of financial coaching, employment coaching, and income supports. This position will help improve the quality of life and education for students through services in the Ivy Cares department. The Resource Coach will be a content specialist for the office regarding financial coaching, providing resources/development for office staff and students regarding coaching practices and financial services.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Conduct outreach, targeting at-risk populations, to create a supportive student environment.

  • Support the planning and implementation of departmental programs/projects.

  • Support initiatives within the Student Success division to improve and maximize services and develop student persistence, retention, and success strategies.

  • Engage in active outreach efforts to inform students about the services offered in the IvyCARES department.

  • Respond to and appropriately manage phone calls, e-mails, and student drop-ins.

  • Monitor and coordinate new student intakes ensuring timely services and follow up.

  • Be the first point of contact in the absence of the Director.

  • Assist students in resolving current financial situations, while providing a wide lens on their financial health to shift the approach to proactive financial management.

  • Develop plans of actions and provide tools, resources, and accountability to the students to help them meet their goals.

  • Assist students in applying for emergency aid and finding exterior social service resources.

  • Interfacing with community service organizations as needed, with an emphasis on developing relationships with organizations .

  • Assisting with resource fairs for students

  • Utilize Microsoft Office, Banner and Outlook Calendar to provide information accurately and in an efficient manner

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.

  • Work experience that includes the following area(s): counseling, social support services, financial management and/or job placement.

  • The ability to process and respond quickly, efficiently, and thoroughly to student crisis.

  • Ability to manage time effectively, set priorities, and handle multiple responsibilities simultaneously.

  • A valid driver's license and reliable transportation, as this position requires some local/regional travel.

  • The ability and willingness to work with a diverse population

  • Ability to plan, organize, implement, and follow through on assignments.

  • Excellent social/interpersonal skills and writing ability commensurate with the communication and reporting requirements of the position.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Higher Education, Sociology or a field related to the functions of the role.

  • Two to three years of experience in personal finances, employment supports, and customer care, with an emphasis on budgeting, asset building and financial management. Previous successful experience in the financial sector is highly desirable.

  • Certification in the discipline of financial planning preferred but not required.

  • Excellent working knowledge of the local community resources, social services environments in Indianapolis, Marion County and Hendricks counties.

  • General knowledge and understanding of the needs of a low-income working population, as well as knowledge of available community resources.

Work Hours:

  • Variable & Flexible: based upon student and departmental staffing needs.

  • Must be available Monday-Friday: 8:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., and occasionally weekends.

  • The Resource Coach will work primarily at the North Meridian campus, with occasional assignments at the Lawrence and Plainfield campuses as needed to address student needs and training/development initiatives.

STARTING SALARY RANGE: $48,000 annually

CLASSIFICATION: E1 (exempt)
