The Office of Residential Life is currently hiring a summer office assistant. The summer office assistant is an employee of Middlebury College, in the office of Residential Life and is supervised by the Associate Dean for Student Life, or their designee. The assistant will help with ongoing processes and department projects, including work for ResLife Training, Housing Operations, Orientation, etc.
The summer office assistant typically works between 10 and 20 hours per week depending on availability. The position starts on May 27, 2024, and ends on August 16, 2024, with the possibility of additional work up until September 8, 2024.
Qualifications:
The ideal summer office assistant is an undergraduate student who demonstrates an understanding of both the mission of Residential Life and the College. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated experience in leadership, teamwork, time management, organization, and working with diverse groups of individuals. Candidates should also demonstrate competency in written and oral communication, as well as use of good judgment in handling sensitive issues. A successful candidate will be proactive, possess a positive demeanor, and have excellent interpersonal skills. Prior Residential Life position, office work role, or other student leadership experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
Assist with administrative functions for the Residential Life office, including regular in-person office hours
Manage annual storage reorganization and inventory process
Prepare materials for fall ResLife staff training, orientation, and other student-facing events held throughout the academic year
Assist with the summer housing transition processes under the direction of the Assistant Director of Residential Life or their designee
Liaise with campus and external partners for office projects
Other duties and special projects as assigned
Compensation:
Level A compensation for up to 20 hours of work per week.
