Responsibilities

The print press utility operates the winder, unwinder, and cylinder exchange system.

Responsibilities include:

  • Responsible for personal safety and participating in plant safety process

  • Assist with press operation and changeovers

  • Minimize production losses during changeovers

  • Perform preventative maintenance and cleaning

  • Operate hoist and overhead crane

  • Operate pole hyster when needed

  • Operate ultrasonic washer

  • Complete all documentation accurately

  • Maintain lift station and EQ tank at proper loads

  • Job rotation and relief of team members as needed

  • Must be willing and able to stand on their feet for long periods of time and work flexible hours

Press Utility Unwind:

  • Call for correct print film rolls per production schedule

  • Activate roll transfer from AGV to press

  • Splice new roll into existing roll per standard operating procedure

  • Perform perfect splices every time

  • Adjust tension and web guiders

Press Utility Wind:

  • Setup core for new roll

  • Watch for and manage splice coming through press

  • Operate winder

  • Adjust tension and web guiders

Press Utility Cylinders:

  • Set up for production runs

  • Load / unload cylinders from trucks

  • Prepare cylinders for production

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Basic understanding of print is a plus

  • Flexible for all shifts

  • Must be able to perform basic computer functions

  • Ability to perform basic math functions and make measurements using the metric system

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in Basic English

  • Must be able to pass the IVC-US color vision test

  • Must lift and/or move up to 60 pounds

  • Vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus

Guides and directs Mohawk’s strategic safety initiatives to ensure a safe and accident-free work environment. + Analyzes and classifies risks and losses as to frequency and severity and measure financial impact upon the Company. + Leads the overall safety program for the division, including such components as safety training, communication, engagement, compliance, record keeping, and metrics. + Leads employee engagement programs as it relates to safety, inclusive of providing an opportunity for all team members to actively participate in the facility’s safety environment and culture. + Designs and directs programs to reduce accidents, occupational illness, and exposure to long term health hazards. + Trains employees and management in safe practices including: Hazardous Communications, blood borne pathogens, and respirator use. Lock-out/tag-out, fork lift operation and safe lifting. + Administers the policies and procedures and manage the subordinate staff relating to the Company’s Safety Program and regulatory requirements. + Prepares and submits recommendations to Senior Management, for action plans to minimize company exposure to costs associated with Worker’s Compensation. + Represents the Company on Safety issues which may include meeting with attorneys, state, federal regulatory agencies. + Maintains internal communication programs and process to ensure both management’s and organization’s awareness of compliance issues, activities and federal, state and local regulatory activities that affect technical and quality compliance + Performs other duties as requested by management Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in a related field required. + Knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations as they apply to technical operations in a regulated environment + Knowledge of the organization, environmental codes and the ability to identify potential loss exposure + Three to five years’ experience in a safety related field required.
