A ROLE YOU WILL LOVE

The Manager Underwriting monitors, supervises and mentors LenderLive residential underwriters. They also are responsible for issuing credit decisions based on the documented borrower profile within the guidelines of the program and client requirements. Underwriters will meet the minimum daily production goals and perform within department audit standards

Primary Accountabilities

  • Direct the activities of the underwriters.

  • Set schedules for the Underwriters to ensure proper coverage based on client requirements.

  • Assigns and distributes daily workloads to underwriters for load balancing as well as assignment of rush requests. Monitor staff performance and overall quality of work.

  • Resource for underwriters and answer procedural, product, and system questions for all department personnel. Accountable for

  • Partners with other department managers for process improvement opportunities that will improve quality and move loans more quickly through the pipeline.

  • Review underwriting reports and underwriting queue on an ongoing basis to ensure the work is flowing within the established department goals.

  • Participate in client underwriting meetings to ensure understanding of changes to both underwriting guidelines and procedures.

  • Participate in hiring, training, terminations, and performance review process activities as directed by the Vice President-Operations.

  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee will view, have access to, and work with confidential financial data. The employee in this position must adhere to strict confidentiality policies and procedures.

  • Point person for client escalation and exception request.

  • Perform related duties as requested

  • Monitors the feedback from test cases for new underwriters going through the certification process. Re-train based on feedback as necessary.

  • Hold regularly scheduled UW meetings with the team to discuss trends, changes to guidelines and procedural changes.

WHAT WE NEED FROM YOU

  • MS Office proficiency.

  • Must be bondable, eligible for state and national licensing including a credit background check.

  • Proficient with DU.

  • Strong customer service ability, computer knowledge, and superior organizational skills.

  • Ability to manage teams effectively

  • High level of problem-solving and decision-making ability.

  • High level of attention to detail.

  • Superior communication skills.

Education and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.

  • 7 years of residential underwriting experience.

  • 5 years of previous management experience.

Language Ability

Ability to read/comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; write simple correspondence; effectively present information in one-on-one/small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

Mathematical Ability

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance.
