ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Under the general supervision of the Associate Director for Residential Life, this position is responsible for implementing key components of the comprehensive academic support program for residents within Housing and Residential Life, including supervision of Peer Academic Leaders, academic and career support of individual residents, and workshop development and facilitation on academic and career success topics. The position also serves in the on-duty Residential Life team rotation providing administrative support and oversight during instances of student crisis, facility emergency, etc.
Education: Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a jobrelated field. Additional specialized experience during which the applicant has acquired and successfully applied the knowledge and abilities may be substituted for the required education on a yearforyear basis.
Experience: Equivalent of two years of professional experience in one of the student services program areas or in a related field; experience should give evidence of competence and indicate the potential for further growth. A master's degree in a jobrelated field may be substituted for one year of the professional experience.
Knowledge of residence hall operations and functions, including duty and emergency response protocols
Familiarity with academic support and success practices. Strong verbal, non-verbal, and written communication skills
Experience with hiring, training, and supervision. Knowledge of and ability to apply student development theory.
Demonstrated skills in group facilitation, academic coaching / advising, program and workshop development, conflict management, and budget management
Ability and interest in working with a diverse population and demonstrate responsiveness to student population needs
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with a variety of individuals, colleagues, and community groups / entities
Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality, as well as a thorough knowledge of department and campus policies, procedures, and practices. Understanding of FERPA student records privacy regulations, as well as other federal regulations applicable to campus housing departments
SALARY RANGE: $4,179 - $5,942 per month plus excellent paid benefits. (Anticipated salary will be $4,179 - $4,597 per month, depending on the qualifications of the successful finalist.) The California State University offers a premium benefit package that includes, but is not limited to, outstanding vacation, health, dental, and vision plans; a fee waiver education program; membership in the California Public Employees Retirement System (PERS); and 14 paid holidays a year.
