A successful Orkin Residential Inspector is dedicated to professionally delivering tailored solutions to each of our customers. You will educate and provide optionality through a consultative approach, so each customer can feel protected and comfortable in their home. Every day you will work to build customer relationships, provide superior customer service, close proposals and network to build a strong pipeline of future customers.

You must be comfortable pursuing and managing a high volume of accounts, while working with our various service teams to ensure impeccable customer service.

Job Requirements:

VIEW JOBS 3/4/2020 12:00:00 AM 2020-06-02T00:00 This position performs regulatory work by monitoring and investigating child care facilities in accordance with the Human Resources Code, Texas Administrative Code, Minimum Standards, and Licensing Policy and Procedures Handbook. Work involves making facility inspections, conducting investigations, convening pre-application meetings for applicants, and working with the community to promote health and safety in child care settings. The position interacts routinely with Texas Department of Family and Protective Services staff, representatives from various organizations, and general public. Essential Job Functions: Evaluates new applications and child care facilities to issue licenses and registrations. Monitors licensed and registered child care facilities, documents compliance or noncompliance with standards using agency forms, and notifies child care providers of required corrective or adverse actions being taken. Investigates complaints, serious incidents and reports in licensed, registered, and unregulated child care facilities. Provides training and technical assistance to child care providers on issues related to minimum standards. Provides information to and solicits information from parents, providers, and the general public about licensed and registered child care through community engagement. Responds to emergency complaints of high risk situations in licensed/registered and illegal child care operations. Performs other duties as assigned and required to maintain unit operations. Promotes and demonstrates appropriate respect for cultural diversity among coworkers and all work-related contacts. Attends work regularly in accordance with agency leave policy. Work hours must be flexible and are not considered 8:00-5:00. Occasional work during the evening and weekends may be required. Knowledge Skills Abilities: Knowledge of Texas laws relating to regulation of child care, child abuse/neglect, and immunization of children. Skill in effective verbal and written communication. Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships. Ability to initiate and participate in enforcement of regulations concerning child care facilities. Ability to evaluate facility's operations in relation to agency guidelines for management of child care facilities. Ability to work with diverse groups of people. Ability to de-escalate situation with tact and diplomacy. Ability to self-start, organize, and manage priorities Ability to operate basic office equipment including, fax and copy machines, and camera/AV equipment. Ability to travel. Registration or Licensure Requirements: Valid driver's license Initial Selection Criteria: Child Care Licensing Inspector I: * Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; or * Currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector I; or * One (1) year previous experience as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Child Care Licensing Inspector II: * Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; or * Currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector II; or * One (1) year previous experience as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Child Care Licensing Inspector III: * Nine (9) months cumulative Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector experience and currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Inspector II; or * Former Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector III and have received Child Care Licensing Advanced Specialist/Inspector Certification; or * Previous experience as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector IV in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Child Care Licensing Inspector IV: * Thirty-three (33) months cumulative Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector experience and currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Inspector III and has Child Care Licensing Advanced Specialist/Inspector Certification; or * Currently employed as a Child Care Licensing Inspector IV; or * Previous experience as a Child Care Licensing Specialist/Inspector V in Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Additional Information: Please note that while the posted salary range for this position is $2,660.21 to $4,094.50. The salary offered will follow HHS starting salary guidelines which are typically made at or near the minimum of the salary range. This position may be filled at any level from a CCL Inspector I to a CCL Inspector IV. Factors such as education and experience may be considered when establishing the starting salary; however, the starting salary for this position may not exceed the maximum of the pay group. This position will be in a mobile unit which means the majority of the work will be conducted using mobile technology, such as a tablet and cell phone, while away from the office. Being mobile requires working independently yet still being responsive to supervision and your assigned unit. Newly-hired employees in eligible positions will be assigned a cellular phone. Preferred Experience in Child Development, Day Care and Day Care Administration Preferred Degrees in Early Childhood Development, Human Development or Early Childhood Education PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: These requirements are not exhaustive, and additional job related physical requirements may be added to these by individual agencies on an as needed basis. Working Conditions: He/she typically works in a mobile environment (the majority of work is performed outside of the office environment) and is exposed occasionally to adverse environmental conditions including, but not necessarily limited to, extreme heat, wetness and humidity, chemicals, close quarters, gases and heights.
