The Residential Education & Staffing Manager at the University of Wisconsin-Platteville in the Department of Residence Life is part of the administrative leadership of the residence life program that serves 3,000 students in ten residence halls. The Residential Education & Staffing Manager position is a full-time, live-off position reporting to the Director of Residence Life. This position is responsible for supervision of designated residence halls, coordinating residential curriculum, acting as a student governance administrative liaison, issuing education programming, and themed community initiatives. The position will involve some night and weekend commitments.

Starting salary for this position is $60,000, commensurate with experience. This position offers excellent benefits and a generous paid leave package.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervision of designated Resident Directors and Area Director in their respective halls.

  • Meet regularly to discuss staff needs, discipline, hall involvement, and counseling.

  • Serve as hearing officer for second offense conduct issues and appeals.

  • Serve as emergency resource.

  • Direct and supervise staff training for student staff

  • Coordinate student staff fall and mid-year training.

  • Direct and supervise the recruitment and selection of student staff

  • Develop and direct initiatives in collaboration with Student Academic Resource Services to provide themed communities that encourage students to integrate out-of-classroom education and in-classroom curriculum.

  • Provide leadership through innovative partnerships among faculty, academic staff, and students.

  • Direct developmental strategies for addressing learning/programmatic outcomes and issues education. This includes learning goals, strategies, outcomes, and assessment.

  • Coordinate response to issues directly impacting college students.

  • Provide continuity related to RHA practices, conference attendance, budgets, governance activities, programs

  • Facilitate a sense of belonging for all students.

  • Other duties as assigned.

What You'll Need to Succeed:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution

  • Demonstrated experience in student services with specific or closely related administration and support of student services functions (i.e., advising, student activities and governance, placement testing, orientation, etc.)

  • Demonstrated effective oral, written and listening communication skills

  • Knowledge of financial aids (applicable federal, state, private loans, scholarships, etc.) and accompanying processes (i.e. FAFSA)

  • Working and applied knowledge and experience analyzing academic course prerequisites, requirements, schedules, needs

  • Working knowledge and understanding of non-academic misconduct

  • Working knowledge of any/all student and/or higher education federal state regulations/policies (FERPA, Clery Act, etc.)

  • Working knowledge and effective usage of MS Office and/or closely related software and computer/fax/office equipment hardware
