TRIO's Upward Bound program at Wilkes University is looking for Residential Advisors (RA) for our Summer Semester, 2024. Upward Bound is a federally funded educational opportunity program that prepares eligible high school students to enter, and succeed, in post-secondary education. The 6-week summer program includes academic, cultural, and a variety of recreational activities. Every Friday is reserved for a field trip & students are dismissed for the weekend - to return Sunday evenings. The primary expectation of the RA position is to ensure the well-being of around 50 students in 11th and 12th grade; with regard to health, safety, morale, discipline, interpersonal relationships within the group, and application to studies. Residential Advisors are expected to live in a Wilkes University residential hall/dormitory while they provide nearly 24-hour supervision for our UBWU students, Sunday - Friday. The summer session week begins on Sunday evening and ends on Friday afternoon. RA's assist with and/or provide creative/athletic activities, chaperone field-trips, partake in a daily hour and a half long open tutoring session, and general residence life programming. Residential Advisors are provided a mandatory, week-long, paid training before the 6 week session begins. Our summer semester will run from June 16th, 2023 - July 26th, 2024.
