As the onsite Resident Engineer/Construction Manager you will provide oversite, leadership, and mentorship to our team performing construction management services on a highway/bridge project in Waterloo, Iowa. The project includes roadway grading, paving, and bridge construction as well as other transportation and roadway related construction tasks. In this role you will interact directly with the owner and contractor, assist with various inspections and construction administrative tasks, and will supervise engineer and owner inspectors and construction management professionals. You will have the opportunity serve as the primary liaison with the client's construction management and operations staff, the general contractor, and the design engineer(s). Working with the design engineer(s) you will help respond to clarifications, perform technical submittal reviews, assess any change orders and similar activities, and ensure the orderly, efficient and timely completion of the project scope in accordance with requirements specified in the contract documents. Working with other members of our team you will also demonstrate effective risk management and mitigation practices through proper risk identification, assessment, tracking and communication. The duration of this assignment is expected to be roughly 2 years. Following this assignment, our intent is for a successful candidate to continue to help our Iowa team and/or other Midwest CM teams identify or complete additional construction management assignments. Bachelor's degree in an engineering or construction management discipline
10 plus years experience
Iowa Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to become licensed
Experience with owner and contractor interactions
Experience with transportation highway/bridge construction
Knowledge and experience with construction scheduling
Must possess the physical ability to move around an active construction site Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
Valid driver's license with the ability to be insured under our motor vehicle policy
