WSP is currently initiating a search for a Resident Engineer for our New York City office. The following locations will also be considered: Brooklyn, NY. Your Impact
Managing the construction management team. Responsible for record keeping, correspondence, compiling and delivering of required reports. Chair various project meetings, record and distribute meeting minutes.
Monitoring contractor performance, scheduling, effectiveness and quality control. Issue NCRs and follow through to resolution
Review and approve daily inspection reports and payment quantities in accordance with project standard specifications and requirements.
Prepare change orders for overruns, changed conditions and additional work.
Log and coordinate with the designer to respond to contractors' submittals, RFI's and shop drawings.
Work to create a safety culture
Experience in permit compliance and coordination with adjacent projects.
Work with client to inform public about upcoming work and potential impacts. Work with the contractor to minimize disruptions to the public.
Work collaboratively with other engineers, professionals, and infrastructure authorities on Federal, State, regional, local, and privately funded improvement and development projects.
Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Who You Are
Required Qualifications
12+ years' experience in rail, highway and bridge related construction management
Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent
Specific experience with NYCTA, MNR, LIRR, NYSDOT, MTA Bridges & Tunnels and other agency construction projects that include rails, highways, bridges and utilities.
Ability to supervise staff - inspection, safety, quality, project controls.
Ability to review/approve shop drawings, contractor schedules, permit and inspection requirements.
Ability to work schedules (nights/weekends) conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work week.
Experience with structural steel and concrete repairs.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Working knowledge of Project management software, e.g. ASITE, Site Manager, etc.
Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP's health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
OSHA 30 Hour Certification.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications
NYS Professional Engineer License preferred, but CCM certification may be accepted
BS in Engineering
Current NYCTA track safety and PMG 123 certification is a plus
Painting (NACE/AMPP) certification is a plus

Expected Salary: $130,300 - $226,100
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and/or offer for this position within the state of Colorado, based on the successful applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location. WSP USA reserves the right to ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and offer additional benefits and other compensation, depending on circumstances not related to an applicant's sex or other status protected by local, state, and/or federal law.
