The Coordinator plans, coordinates and is accountable for developing and implementing the department's medical student educational programs with a focus on the Surgery Sub-Internship and/or M4 electives. The Coordinator will also lead preparation and implementation of the annual one-month surgical anatomy elective course, including coordination with SOM ExCEL lab and other resources.

The duties of the Coordinator include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparation - site assignments according to student preferences, lecture schedules, syllabus preparation, site access and student roster.

  • Orientation - present schedules, assignments and course details.

  • Didactic Sessions - facilitate lecture setup, follow up with faculty members, assist with lab setup and cleanup as needed.

  • Testing - administer pre- and post-course tests, grade and record. Proctor NBME Subject Examination or other exams as needed, and schedule oral examinations.

  • Evaluation and Grade Preparation

  • Request and collect student evaluations from faculty and residents. Populate grade sheet in electronic evaluation management program (OASIS). Data collection and analysis.
  • Program Maintenance
  • Canvas course site, tracking faculty effort
  • Teamwork - coordinate and collaborate with Surgical Education office staff for cross training

  • General support of Surgical Education office faculty and staff day to day activities, including but not limited to: purchasing of supplies and educational materials; processing of expenses; coordination of classroom schedules and AV facilities; troubleshooting of AV issues.

JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Performs or coordinates administrative activities associated with one or more residency programs.

  • Assists in residency recruitment programs by updating relevant brochures and displays, updating and placing advertisements, coordinating recruitment trips, and preparing for and scheduling applicant interviews.

  • Maintains required record-keeping and databases pertaining to residency program(s).

  • May coordinate and/or schedule resident orientation, rotations, and evaluations.

  • Assists in preparing budgets and in tracking expenses.

  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor's degree and one year of relevant work experience, or an equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

NOTE: This role will be granted the opportunity to work from home regularly but must be able to commute to Emory University on a flexible weekly schedule based upon business needs. Schedule is based on agreed upon guidelines of department of work. Emory reserves the right to change remote work status with notice to employee.

  • This is a Non-Exempt position. Employees in this position are paid an hourly pay rate, on a bi-weekly basis, and are eligible to receive overtime pay for any hours worked over 40 in a work week.
