The Graduate Nurse Resident/Registered nurse is defined as a graduate nurse who has less than one year of experience from date of graduation to date of hire and has not worked in an acute care setting since graduation from an accredited nursing school. The Graduate Nurse will actively participate in the Residency program as assigned.

This GN/RN provides care in the following patient care settings: acute care, operating room, behavioral health, women's, critical care or emergency care to patients with acute, chronic, and/or terminal illnesses. Performs an assessment based on the patient's diagnosis, reason for entry into the system, and care needs. Utilizes the nursing process to plan, perform, delegate, and evaluate the delivery of nursing care.

Other duties include interdisciplinary team involvement, committees, program evaluations, research, education, and the supervision of students. Performs duties within the scope of the Missouri Nurse Practice Act and established organizational and regulatory requirements.

Minimum Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program. For internal candidates, an Associated of Science of Nursing (ASN) Candidates with an agreement to complete an accredited Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program and participate in the Nurse Residency program within 4 years of completion of residency program.

  • Current state of Missouri license as a Registered Nurse.

  • Graduate Nurse/Registered Nurse, with less than one year of experience from date of graduation to hire date and has not worked in an acute care setting.

  • Current BCLS upon hire.

  • Hired into the Nurse Residency Program for 1-year residency program and agrees to 1-year work commitment upon successful completion of the Nurse Residency Program.

  • Fulfill all the professional obligations during the 1-year program and unit specific professional development requirements.

Job Description Job Description In 1974, Saint Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, MO started the country's first private sexual assault treatment program serving sexually assaulted patients. Together with the Kansas City Police Department, their crime lab, prosecuting attorney's from five surrounding counties and the Metropolitan Organization to Counter Sexual Assault (MOCSA) advocacy program, Saint Luke's developed the nation's first and largest Sexual Assault Response/Resource Team (SARRT). In 1996, the program evolved into a full SANE program and was deployed to three additional hospitals in 2003. By 2006, Saint Luke's system-wide sexual assault program was one of the first in the country to begin transitioning to a full clinical forensic program applying similar forensic principles of care to trauma, domestic violence, strangulation, child and elderly abuse patients. We are currently seeking a Bachelors prepared nurse with excellent ED skills and a passion for caring for patients that have experienced sexual assault and/or other forms of trauma, and who would like to be supported as a clinical expert in an innovative ED bedside leadership role. The Emergency Department Forensic Float Pool RN supports the ED patient care needs of four metro hospitals which includes Saint Luke's Hospital, Saint Luke's East Hospital, Saint Luke's South Hospital and Saint Luke's North Hospital. The Emergency Department Forensic Float Pool RN collaborates within the health system with other specialty care areas regarding all aspects of clinical forensic care, and externally with other forensic programs, appropriate pre-hospital, criminal justice and advocacy personnel. In collaboration with the Clinical Forensic Medical Director, the Emergency Department Forensic Float Pool RN The Emergency Department Forensic Float Pool RN responds during their shift to provide Clinical Forensic Care Services to patients that present disclosing sexual assault at all entity hospitals, provide mentorship to ED staff on conducting Clinical Forensic Care Services for domestic violence, elder abuse/neglect, child abuse/neglect, assault, and strangulation and provides staffing support to the assigned department.
