The Arc Wayne of Newark, NY, a Human Services Agency, is seeking to hire a full-time Residence Team Leader for our Residential Services Program to assist with the supervision of service provision as part of the residence team; in this role, you will be responsible for the operation of the residence in absence of the Residence Supervisor.

A DAY IN THE LIFE AS A RESIDENCE TEAM LEADER

As part of this role, some of your duties may include assisting the Residence Supervisor with scheduling, training of new staff, and program planning. In this position, you will support adults with Developmental/Intellectual Disabilities with household and community skills, personal care, and self-administration of medication in a group home setting, where you will develop and implement activities designed to teach basic living skills including, but not limited to budgeting, cooking, shopping, and leisure time use. You will educate and encourage individuals to plan menus, order, prepare, and store food, will work closely with other staff to ensure that everyone is provided a balanced, nutritional diet and that special dietary restrictions are accommodated, and will assist with housekeeping and the maintenance of residence and property to ensure a safe, healthy and respectful home. You will promptly report unsafe conditions and needed repairs to Residence Supervisor and/or Maintenance Department. As a Residence Team Leader, you will also observe and report physical, mental, social, and behavioral changes of individuals to appropriate supervisory and/or clinical staff, will notify day program of changes, and will advocate for individual choice and quality of care with respect, dignity and privacy, while promoting independence, individuality, inclusion and productivity. You will communicate individual, staff, physical plant, and programmatic needs and concerns to Residence Supervisor, Care Coordinator, Residential Program Manager and nursing staff, will provide emergency and first aid treatment until relieved by medical professional and/or other designated personnel, and will perform other related duties as requested by Residence Supervisor and/or Residential Program Manager. You will attend all required training and staff meetings and will adhere to Agency and Program policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma or GED and 2 years' experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities

  • Current, valid NYS driver's license for at least 2 years and a safe driving record required for most positions

  • Ability to pass a background and reference check

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

  • Ability to physically assist individuals who use wheelchairs and/or walkers

WORK SCHEDULE

This is a full-time position split between two locations in Newark, NY, with a schedule of Tuesday & Wednesday (12pm

  • 8pm), Thursday (9am

  • 5pm), Friday (10am

  • 6pm) and Saturday (8am

  • 4pm), 40 hours/week, non-exempt.
