We're searching for motivated, responsible individuals with experience in Residence Life to join our team. As a Residence Manager, you'll play a vital role in our international campus community, working closely with diverse students and a high-energy staff.
The position offers a chance to wear many hats, from event coordination to counselling and policy enforcement. Key responsibilities include room assignments, handling special requests, facilitating training, conducting inspections, and serving as a liaison between Residence Life, Facilities, and Security. Experience in the student life sector is preferable.
The position is full-time and has flexible working hours at certain times of year. The schedule might vary from week to week and requires certain times on-call rotation.
Job responsibilities:
Arrange room assignments for a residential population of 600+ students (1,450 students during the peak season)
Be responsible for the room change requests and ensure that all requests are completed as fast as possible. Directly contact the students for all room changes' requests.
Manage special groups requests and provide exceptional customer service to all students.
Facilitate training sessions throughout the year for the residential team.
Conduct weekly building and safety inspections with Facilities and Security staff.
Place all working orders for Facilities in Maximo on a daily basis and track maintenance issues, and coordinate with the Facilities Management team.
Act as a liaison between Residence Life and Facilities, and between Residence Life and Security to assist with all room and building service required.
Serve as hearing officer for low and mid-level cases with students. Exhibit effective listening and mediation skills.
Provide exceptional customer service to students regarding housing issues and achieve positive resolution of student and sales office concerns.
Take the emergency phone as per the rotation. When serving on-call, respond to all emergency situations in a calm and responsible manner.
Enforce school rules and policies, manage and follow-up on student discipline issues.
Be an influential leader and manager to a team: run meetings, develop agendas, drive improvement.
Support the Residence Manager to implement student life activities and programming.
Requirements:
Successful candidates must have team leadership experience. Experience in the student life field a strong plus. In addition, candidate must have:
Bachelor's degree
Prior residence life and housing experience
Operational and staff management experience
Customer service obsession
Excellent organization and communication skills
Strict attention to detail
An ability to think and react quickly to daily unexpected events.
Ability to meet long and short-term goals.
Good analytical skills and spatial planning skills
A positive attitude, sense of humor, and empathy for others
Comfort with a fast-paced environment
International experience preferred.
Fluency in other language (preferred and not required).
Essential traits and abilities:
Mature and self-confident; strong attention to detail; calm ability to prioritize and act when faced with multiple demands; flexible and freely able to handle last minute changes; desire and ability to provide excellent customer service. Ability to work with a diverse student and staff population.
Salary: $60,000 per year
