POSITION SUMMARY

The Residence Manager is responsible to oversee daily shift operations, ensure accomplishment of program-wide goals, coordinate the scheduling of staff, complete all records and reports, facilitate on-site orientation and training, and monitor and provide supervisory oversight to the overall operations of the program. Participate in Agency activities under the supervision of the Coordinator.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Activities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor the safety and well being of the individuals and report issues as necessary.

  • Ensure the accomplishment of individuals' goals and behavior plans; ensure that the Individual Program Plan (IPP) is implemented and documented.

  • Maintain the timely completion of all records and reports as directed by the Coordinator.

  • Supervise the daily shift operations of the residence.

  • Ensure effective communication of daily work info and expectations.

  • Under the direction of the Coordinator, maintain site staffing schedules and coverage.

  • Role model appropriate skills and behaviors.

  • Problem solve daily shift issues and/or conflicts as part of site leadership team.

  • Provide coaching and counseling of Resident Counselors as directed by the Coordinator to enhance individual and team performance.

  • Complete annual evaluations for Resident Counselors for approval by Coordinator.

  • Arrange and assist with on site orientation and training activities for new employees and existing staff.

  • Assist with interviews for job openings as requested for hiring decision by Coordinator.

  • Perform duties of the Residence Counselor as needed, including but not limited to: Serve as a Role Model, promote the individuals' independence by implementing the IPP, attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the individuals cannot independently accomplish.

  • Maintain accurate purchasing records, petty cash and personal funds; establish effective contact with all vendors.

  • Monitor operation and condition of the building and supplies; ensure building security.

  • Participate in activities as part of the treatment team such as; meetings, trainings, and committees.

  • Develop and maintain an effective communication network with the individuals, program staff, families, community agencies, and other Agency departments.

  • Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency's culture, values and mission.

  • Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum Requirement: Associates Degree in a related field (human services, sociology, general studies, etc.). 15 credit hours in a related field must be completed to qualify for the residence manager position.

  • BS/BA in Human Services or related field preferred.

  • Minimum one year experience.

  • Valid New York State driver's license.

  • Knowledge of basic computer programs (Including all Windows programs, Adobe Acrobat, Outlook, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel) HRIS systems applications preferred.

  • This position has regular and substantial unsupervised and unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities) or OMH (Office of Mental Health).

  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted.

WORK ENVIRONMENT/HAZARDS

  • Job related tasks involve exposure to blood, body fluids, tissue or the potential for skin or mucous membrane contact from spills or splashes of these substances. May have exposure to unpredictable individuals and situations when working at Upstate Cerebral Palsy sites.
  • OSHA Exposure Category I

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • Must have full sight and hearing with fluency in the English language.

  • Ability to lift and/or assist individuals in your care and the ability to meet the physical requirements of the specific job.

  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of the position without compromising work-flow and efficiency.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Activities include but are not limited to the following: * Promote the individuals' independence by implementing the Individual Program Plan. * Attend to personal, self-care and other program needs that the individuals cannot independently accomplish. * Oversee the safety and well being of the individuals. * Advise the nurses regarding the individuals' medical and dietary concerns, dispense medication, if certified. * Participate in activities as part of the treatment team that may include meetings, trainings and committees. * Transport and accompany residents as required for appointments and community activities. * Assist in the daily housekeeping and laundry routine, report house damage and complete work orders; clean wheelchairs, clean and gas-up agency vans. * Must be able to attain and maintain SCIP-R and CPR certification. * Maintain documentation as required. * Establish a work environment that creates positive communication between supervisors and employees and assimilates new employees to the Agency's culture, values and mission. * Ensure compliance with all pertinent government and agency regulations and operating standards EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS/ QUALIFICATIONS/ EXPERIENCE * High School Diploma or equivalent. * Up to 1 year of experience. * Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances are warranted. * Knowledge of basic computer programs (Including all Windows program, Outlook, Adobe Acrobat, Internet Browser, Access, Word and Excel). * Travel and transport is required. Must have a valid NYS Driver's License. * This position has regular and substantial unsupervised or unrestricted physical contact with individuals receiving services and is required by law to be fingerprinted for a criminal history record check under OPWDD (Office for People with Developmental Disabilities).
