Job Overview:
Marathon Oil's Eagle Ford Portfolio team is currently seeking a reservoir engineer based in Houston, TX. The team is responsible for financial forecast subsurface inputs and results, development planning, operations support, sanction efforts, portfolio optimization, economic analysis, commercial efforts, competitor intelligence, production variance analysis, and managing subsurface tools and databases. The primary goal of this position is to prepare asset year end reserve bookings, lead production forecasting processes, and communicate thorough understanding of the results and variances through time to asset leadership. Candidate needs to be able to handle a high volume of data and distill large datasets into executive summaries. Candidate must be self-motivated and excel in a team environment.
Responsibilities:
Prepare asset reserves estimation, including DCA for 3,000+ unconventional wells, PUD type well profiles and associated volumes, calculate and QC cost averages and other economic inputs, and identify PUD locations using direct offsets
Manage business processes for production forecasting; decline curves, type curves, and well attributes
Conduct variance analysis for well performance
Highlight areas to optimize and maximize reserve bookings
Identify enterprise risk associated with projected reserves trends
Assist with internal/external slide preparation for investor relations, earnings release, etc.
Collaborate on plan of development management process
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelors required, Petroleum Engineering preferred
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience, 3 of which in unconventional reserve estimation
Technical Skills:
Working knowledge of SEC regulations governing reserve and resource estimation, including the application of reliable technology to book PUD reserves
Working knowledge of the PRMS framework for classification of reserves and resources
Experience with unconventional reservoirs and good understanding of well to well communication is a necessity
Experience with databases and basic coding abilities (Spotfire, Snowflake, SQL, and Excel VBA)
Experience in mining and utilizing external data sources (Enverus)
Economic analysis software Aries, Enersight, and ComboCurve required
