Job Description:

In this position you will perform actuarial analysis related to reserve establishment, management reporting, peer reviews, and other miscellaneous project work as defined by management. In addition, support the annual planning process.

Perform product or client company business reviews, including evaluating loss trends and performance, pricing analysis, rate filing support, profit commission plan analysis, modeling alternative reinsurance structures, etc. Other miscellaneous project work as defined by management. May be involved in IFRS and Solvency II reporting.

Primary focus will be in support of HSB's foreign entities.



Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Finance, Mathematics, or related field requiring modeling, programming, or quantitative analysis or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of Actuarial experience or Associate of the Casualty Actuarial Society desired.

Those that are actively pursuing actuarial exams (and passed at least one exam) will be eligible for the Actuarial Student Program.

Some knowledge of actuarial work such as pricing, reserving, rate filing, financial reporting.

Knowledge of primary and non-traditional reinsurance/alternative market.

Excellent computer skills. Strong programming skills preferred.

VIEW JOBS 10/8/2019 12:00:00 AM 2020-01-06T00:00 Senior Consultant Actuarial, Actuarial Reserving – Reinsurance & Runoff Overview of the Position: The Hartford Financial Services Group is seeking a Senior Research Consultant in the Reinsurance Analysis area within Actuarial Reserving to support commutations, annual reserve studies, statutory requirements, and special projects. This position combines claims and reinsurance business knowledge with technical and analytical skills. The Senior Research Consultant is a strong individual contributor role and is responsible for increasing efficiency and effectiveness within Actuarial Reserving. As a member of the Reinsurance Analysis team this individual will collaborate closely with other areas within Actuarial Reserving as well as other departments, including Reinsurance Accounting, Commutations, Collections, Strategic Claim Management, Legal, and Assumed Claims to provide a wide range services. Responsibilities: * Take a leadership role in the Reinsurance Analysis Unit's participation in the yearly non asbestos and pollution reserve analysis, which produces IBNR estimates for Bulk, Known Reassumed, and Blanket Casualty Treaty. Responsibilities include creating project plans, obtaining direct data, performing a ground up analysis, analyzing and reconciling ceded data, coordinating with other areas, determining drivers, compiling and communicating results. This includes working with Ongoing Reserving colleagues to help them understand how their reserve lines are impacted by the latest projections. * Identify, evaluate, and price exposures for assumed and ceded commutations. Understand the nature and type of business and assess the exposure. Prepare pricing exhibits, analyze and make recommendation for commutation ranges. Communicate the offer range to all functional areas and support the negotiation process. * Support the yearly Schedule F reserve process. Obtain the data, check for reasonableness, analyze the data and determine the ceded IBNR to be published. Identify the drivers and communicate the results. Provide supporting documentation for audit purposes. * Participate in numerous special projects throughout the year, with emphasis on both ceded and assumed exposures and how they affect both the Hartford's reserve position as well as impacts on ongoing Line of Business results. * Identifying areas of opportunity to improve or enhance existing processes and analyses.
