Other conditions: Appointment to begin August 1, 2024. Position renewable upon availability of funds, program needs, and satisfactory performance.
Duties:
Work with the Dean of the Thompson School of Social Work and Public Health to enhance the school's research grant funding portfolio
Mentor Thompson School faculty on investigator-initiated grantsmanship, particularly on NIH and other federal agency grant submissions. This includes mentoring on funding strategies, professional development related to successful grant funding, writing and conceptualization of grants, including abstracts, specific aims, and research strategy.
Connecting Thompson School faculty with national experts who can consult on grant proposals.
Develop short- and long-term strategies for successful NIH training and center grants for the Thompson School.
As needed, work with Thompson School faculty on identifying and connecting with national experts who can serve as co-investigators on grants.
Other miscellaneous duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:
Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in medicine, public health, social work, nursing or a related-field
At least four years of effective research with demonstrated increasing professional maturity and independence at the rank of associate researcher
Track record of successful NIH R01 and center grant funding as principal investigator
Strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in national reputable journals
Demonstrated ability to mentor faculty on research grant submissions
Knowledge about successful strategies for NIH grant funding
Track record of mentoring faculty on funded NIH grants (e.g., K awards, R series, and diversity supplements)
Desirable Qualifications:
Five years experience at the rank of full researcher or equivalent
Experience working with Native Hawaii and/or other Indigenous populations, such as American Indians
National reputation in health disparities research
Experience working in research-intensive universities
Service on NIH study sections and similar grant review committees
