What You'll Do:

[CURRENTLY HYBRID ELIGIBLE] Will report into the office 3 days a week and telework 2 days a week. Subject to change.

  • Under the direction of the section commander within the Office of Planning, Research & Development, review, analyze problems & develop research tools & methods of data collection & design research projects;

  • Independently coordinates research efforts & projects within the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP); Assign, direct, & coordinate projects & set priorities; Decide the type of project & perform necessary research; Conduct product research by contacting vendors or other agencies; Develop testing procedures & timelines; Collect & process data/information from tests;

  • Analyze & summarize information in research paper or inter-office communication format to provide technical expertise/recommendations to senior staff;

  • Setup lines of communication for projects; schedule meetings with internal customers &/or vendors; provides updates for project goals & timelines;

  • Maintain & update a project tracking sheet & complete biweekly updates for senior staff;

  • Create & maintain documentation for each product, including research documents, emails, follow up, meeting notes, etc. & respond to requests for information;

  • Conduct continuous follow up on projects & coordinate with multiple OSHP sections to ensure project goals are met.

  • Collaborate with Procurement & Purchasing to review contracts, create sole source justifications, & provide any other necessary information to purchase products;

  • Work with the Tailor Shop, Central Install, & others to coordinate the delivery, distribution, installation & purchasing of new products;

  • Work with Training Academy, Visual Communications, & others to develop & deliver training materials;

  • Assist Lieutenant in monitoring State and Provincial Police Planning Officers Section (SPPPOS) message board & sending information to other agencies;

  • Manage correspondence, meetings, & other office functions;

  • Review products & implementation for compliance with Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies, Inc.(CALEA) standards & identify any policy changes needed.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
