About the Job

This position will carry out research on quantum-inspired algorithms and problem solving on coupled oscillators based using machine chips. This position requires working knowledge on quadratic unconstrained binary optimization (QUBO) problems and experience mapping large-scale real-world problems to accelerator hardware. This position will work with PhD students, collaborating UMN faculty, and postdocs to solve test and evaluation problems in areas such as cryptanalysis, logistics, and finance.

Responsibilities:

80% - Conducting research related to optimization problems in cryptanalysis, finance, and logistics

15% - Developing python or C++ code for mapping real-life optimization problems, designing a user interface and computing infrastructure

5% - Keep detailed records of original problems, formulated QUBO graphs, solution quality, time to solution, and energy to solution

Qualifications

Required qualifications

  • BS or higher degree in mathematics, computer science, algorithms or related area, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal four years.

  • Experience in QUBO optimization problems, python and C++ programming, and data visualization.
