Overview

The Clinical Research Program Manager participates in the development and implementation of the both the programmatic and long-term research agendas of the Office of Health Initiatives and Disparities Research. This position supports programs which aim to significantly improve access to and utilization of beneficial evidence-based interventions in communities with cancer related health disparities, thereby reducing disparities.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with research activities for Health Initiatives and Disparities Research Office.

  • Assist research team with grant opportunities, disseminating research findings, assist research team with research projects from research design to implementation, analysis and product development.

  • Work with research team and partners to understand and contribute to discussions about the mission, goals and objectives and relevance to population served.

  • Coordinate patient encounters and track data, community physicians, and local resources into a seamless model of access and care to benefit patients, participating physicians, and family members.

  • Assists research team in preparing reports and analysis setting forth progress, adverse trends and appropriate recommendations or conclusions.

  • Maintain accurate records reflecting work activities.

  • Collect and disseminate data and reports for research and program activities from county/clinic statistics to comprehensive reports and updates of clinic site data information to patient rosters for each individual county/clinic.

  • Disseminate program information using multiple streams to engage population served.

  • Assist in the development, organization and coordination of health education/prevention/early detection programs, identify health care problems, recommend courses of action and evaluate results.

  • Provide cancer education to patients and groups.

  • Adapt and implement national and local information, campaigns and cancer screening and education programs to meet the needs of underserved populations in the focused area.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Health, Psychology, Business, Social Work or related field plus five (5) years of research or public health experience required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Experience working with a diverse population.

  • Must be sensitive to cultural differences and open to working with people of varied backgrounds.

  • Certified Research Specialist/Grants Management Certification or obtain within one (1) year of hire date.

  • Demonstrable initiative, and flexibility.

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in groups.

  • Excellent interpersonal & organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated interest in cancer and/or health disparities.

  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications particularly Microsoft Excel.

This position must be able to organize complex projects, provide attention to detail, and communicate effectively. Works closely with CRA Team Lead and CRNs to manage the day-to-day operations and objectives in support of the assigned portfolio. Contributes information and ideas related to areas of responsibility as part of a cross functional team. Ensures effective and efficient workflow and adherence to quality standards for staff/program and self. Position maintains a working knowledge of the Code of Federal Regulations and the code of conduct for human research. The employee will work directly with pharmaceutical company sponsors, institutional investigators, and research staff. Monitors protocol status and advises PI on requirements and deadlines. * Manages the collection and transmission of samples, scheduling of clinical visits and tests, and the collection, processing, and reporting of data. * Assists departmental faculty/PI in the development, preparation, and submission of research protocols and related documentation. * Confers with PI and support staff to secure necessary documents for proposals. * Assists in the screening, recruitment, selection, consenting, and enrollment of subjects. * Assists with the development, implementation, maintenance, and evaluation of quality assurance plan for conduct of clinical trials, while working closely with sponsor representatives to address and respond to monitoring and auditing reports. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Level I: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of general or clinical research experience OR High School diploma/GED plus 7 years of general or clinical research experience. Must obtain CRS certification within 2 years of hire. Level II: Bachelor's degree plus 3 years of general or clinical research experience with demonstrated experience/proficiency in one or more of the following functional areas as relevant to oncology clinical trials: study planning/development, study coordination/management and data collection OR High School diploma/GED plus 7 years of general or clinical research experience. Must obtain CRS certification within 2 years of hire. Level III: Bachelor's degree plus 5 years of clinical research experience with demonstrated experience/proficiency in all of the above key functional areas (see Level II) OR High School diploma/GED plus 9 years of clinical research experience. CRA Level III also requires CCRP, CCRC or equivalent professional certification. Must obtain CRS certification within 2 years of hire.
