The McKinney-Freeman Lab is seeking outstanding, highly motivated, team-oriented candidates for a Research Technologist position to join our efforts to advance our understanding of the fundamental biology of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs). HSCs represent the most therapeutically exploited adult stem cell compartment, used routinely to treat leukemia and hematologic disease via HSC transplantation. We seek to 1) illuminate the molecular regulation of HSC in vivo repopulating activity, 2) better understand how HSCs are specified during ontogeny 3) better understand how the clonal diversity of the hematopoietic system is established and maintained throughout life. This knowledge will advance our understanding of the developmental origins of hematologic disease and illuminate strategies to improve HSC transplantation.
The successful candidate will: 1) support efficient laboratory operations, 2) assist with overall lab management and 3) provide technical support for ongoing laboratory projects, including the collection and analysis of data.
Excellent written and communication skills and experience in basic molecular biology and cell culture techniques are required for this position. Direct experience working with mice and mouse colony management is desired, but not required, for this position.
Experience with flow cytometry is also preferred, but not required. The ability to effectively collaborate with fellow trainees and scientists, as well as execute tasks in a timely manner are critical. Take the first step to join our team by applying now.
