Hiring Salary/Salary Range: $17.78- $18.00 / up to 40 hours per week

The major goals of the laboratory are to explore novel gene therapy approaches for the study and treatment of neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative diseases. The National Institutes of Health, foundations, and companies fund the research programs of the lab.

We are looking for a highly motivated, enthusiastic, hardworking, detail-oriented, and collaborative applicant who can efficiently work in a fast-paced environment. A high level of independence and the ability to think critically and write academically are expected.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a qualified research technician for a neuroscience research lab. The ideal candidate would require experience in animal husbandry work, this includes breeding, genotyping, and assessing animal behavior.

The candidate will be required to help maintain mouse and rat colonies at USF. The candidate should also have experience in biochemical analysis such as western blotting as well as immunohistochemical analysis experience. The candidate should have experience with neuroscience research including but not limited to brain dissections and sectioning.

The candidate is expected to also contribute to general lab procedures such as making solutions and ordering chemicals. Candidate should be able to work well in a large and diverse research lab.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs experiments, acquires, and analyzes data.

  • Animal handling, breeding, and behavior testing.

  • Biochemical, histological analysis, and general lab procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS (Education & Experience):

Minimum Qualifications:

This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of laboratory or research experience. College coursework in a natural or physical science may be substituted for the required experience on a year for year basis.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science degree from an accredited institution and appropriate experience and training in laboratory experimentation. Experience in neuroscience research is desirable.
