Position Summary

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, School of Medicine, Department of Pharmacology seeks a candidate to join the laboratory of Professor Maria Aleman as a Research Technician to support our research in non-malignant hematology. The Research Technician will manage the animal colony including breeding, weaning, and genotyping and will be responsible for animal model experimentation including drug treatments and collecting tissue samples.

This position will also be responsible for the maintenance of lab equipment and supplies and ordering lab reagents, as well as ensuring safety standards are met. This individual will also assist other lab members with experiments as determined by the principal investigator.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements

Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Must have laboratory experience.

Must have experience handling research animals.

Must have good interpersonal skills, ability to follow directions, and to work productively with others.

Must have a strong record of reliability, consistency, and organization as demonstrated in written and computer formats.

Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience

Directly related experience in biology, cell biology, molecular biology, or genetics.
