Position Summary

A Research Technician with specialist expertise in free-living marine nematode taxonomy is needed to fulfill the classical taxonomy research aims of my NSF CAREER grant (which includes a significant focus on formal species descriptions and light microscopy-based identifications of free-living nematode specimens isolated from marine sediments).

Duties/Responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities

  • Carrying out classical taxonomy protocols for free-living marine nematodes isolated from marine sediments: sample processing to isolate nematodes, picking specimens and preparing temporary and permanent slide mounts, completing genus-level morphological identifications using light microscopy with DIC.

Percentage of time 70 Duties/Responsibilities

  • Preparing manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals, including formal taxonomic species descriptions of free-living marine nematodes.

  • Project management of research quality, data analysis, interpretation and presentation of results.

Percentage of time 20 Duties/Responsibilities

  • Laboratory duties, including chemical inventory, ordering supplies, lab cleaning and organization.

Percentage of time 10
