The Cerosaletti lab is seeking a Research Technician to support projects investigating the genetics of allergy, using human samples to determine the effects of genetic variants on the allergic immune response. Research is conducted in a highly collaborative atmosphere, both within the lab and the institution.


  • Initiate and conduct experimental protocols with minimal instruction. Perform chemical, physical, or biological analyses following written protocols.

    Preparing fractionated samples from blood using sterile techniques. Operating a variety of laboratory instruments such as flow cytometers, spectrometers, electrophoresis equipment, radiation counters, PCR machines, measuring instruments and devices. Preparing laboratory reagents, chemicals, stocks, cultures and cell lines.

    Conduct lab ordering and associated records. Maintain lab notebook, including gathering, organizing, analyzing, and interpreting data. Prepare presentations for lab meeting and data for progress reports, and manuscripts. Confer with other scientific personnel; attend seminars and participate in lab meetings and journal club.


  • BA/BS in a scientific field. Strong mathematical, computer, data analysis, and statistical analysis skills.

    Knowledge of proper operation of complex laboratory instruments and equipment. Good verbal and writing skills, and have the ability to work both independently and in a team environment. Successful completion and documentation of experiments involving mammalian tissue culture and multiparameter flow cytometry required.

Responsibilities This position will work with members of the laboratory of Dr. Taran Gujral in the Division of Human Biology to culture and maintain a collection of cell lines, prepare samples and carry out biochemical and PCR-based assays, assist in murine experiments, and use various software packages to analyze data from these assays. Qualifications * Research Technician I minimum qualifications: BA/BS in a scientific field required. Must have scientific knowledge in the area of study and basic laboratory skills. Independent research experience in addition to school lab experience is usually necessary. * Research Technician II minimum qualifications: Intermediate level position requiring 2 years previous experience working in a laboratory and BA/BS. Independent research experience outside of laboratory course work is usually necessary.
