The Research Technician II will work on department-related grant-funded research projects that will be for a fixed time period. The position works under minimal supervision on research projects as assigned and carries out research objectives and tasks as outlined by the Principal Investigator based on grants/contracts.

The Research Technician II will be expected to manage, train and mentor lower level laboratory personnel and ensure all personnel follow guidelines and protocols for lab operations. They will ensure that all lab personnel adhere to strict quality control standards and quality assurance measures. A Research Technician II will be required to contribute in experiments, field and laboratory tests by setting up, operating, preparing laboratory equipment, materials and procedures.

They may also be asked to monitor, record and summarize results, which could include preparing tables, charts, graphs and advanced statistical data analysis. The Research Technician II will also be required to present at research meetings, and contribute to the preparation of manuscripts for publication in journals, books, and/or other media. This individual will need to use, clean and maintain equipment for use in experiments and test.

The Research Technician II will also ensure sufficient inventory levels of materials, supplies and equipment. Off hours and weekend work may be required.

A Research Technician II position is available in the laboratory of Dr. Joseph C.

Gigliotti to assist with experiments studying the impact of diet on liver and kidney health in mouse models. In addition to the expectations outlined in "Job Summary" and "Essential Functions and Responsibilities," the incumbent in this position will assist with routine mouse handling, assist with management of laboratory space and resources, and assist with a variety of laboratory techniques associated with assessing the molecular basis of tissue function and disease development.
