The Eaton lab in the department of Ecology, Evolution, and Environmental Biology is looking to hire a full time lab technician/manager for molecular laboratory work on plant evolutionary genomics.

The lab's work focuses on studying the consequences of hybridization for phylogenetic inference, the evolution of reproductive characters, speciation and diversification (see http://eaton-lab.org/research/) ? and several current projects are focused on optimizing genomic library preparation methods for investigating these types of questions.

The ideal candidate will have experience with DNA extractions and library preparations, will have a strong interest in evolutionary genomics, and a meticulous attention to detail.

Work in the lab will involve learning and implementing a diverse array of methods including preparation of genomic libraries for Oxford Nanopore, RAD, WGS, tagmentation, and transcriptomics sequencing; providing support to or supervising and training students; maintaining lab databases; and ordering and maintaining supplies. Many opportunities will be available to contribute towards co-authorship in peer-reviewed publications.

This is a 12-month term appointment with the possibility of extension contingent on successful performance and continued funding. Minimum Qualifications for Grade

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Bachelor's Degree in the biological sciences.

Our laboratory is interested in the study of joint replacement surgery, specifically 1) the pathogenesis and treatment of infections around joint replacements, and 2) how joint replacements maintain long term implant stability. The lab is led by two orthopedic surgeons who are clinician scientists and collaborates with fundamental researchers both at HSS and Cornell University. The successful candidate will perform a combination of bench-based and animal-based projects. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: * Maintaining and operating laboratory equipment * Maintaining inventory of lab supplies and ordering material * Carrying out in-vitro experiments which include growing bacterial culture, growing bacterial biofilm on various materials, histology, micro CT and basic immunohistochemistry * Assisting in carrying out in-vivo experiments involving a mouse based animal model and joint replacement implants. * Participating in laboratory meetings * Training students and other lab staff, and supervising laboratory aides * Assisting with preparation of manuscripts, presentations and other written documents Minimum job requirements: * Bachelor's degree * Proficient use of computers and software Hospital For Special Surgery New York NY
