The Cardiovascular Nutrition Laboratory's (CNL) major focus is to increase our knowledge of the relationship between diet and chronic disease risk factors. The CNL activities involve human, animal and cell culture research studies.
The work is specifically related to the determination of fatty acid profiles using gas chromatography (GC). Training will be provided, as needed. Responsibilities include lipid extraction from various biological samples, GC setup, analysis, integration and data entry; GC maintenance; assisting with routine laboratory work; tracking sample usage and storage; keeping records and ordering laboratory supplies, as needed.
Familiarity with basic laboratory techniques and procedures.
Applicant should have good communication skills, the ability to interact with other laboratory personnel, work independently, be flexible with work hours, demonstrate initiative, and have a strong commitment to accomplishing project goals.
Special Work Schedule Requirements:
Monday Friday 9-5, with flexibility to work from 8am or staying until 6pm as well as occasional weekend hours. May work with and be exposed to hazardous chemicals and materials, human/animal tissue and fluids.
