The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies (formerly Rutgers Center for Tobacco Studies) is undergoing dynamic and transformative growth. The Rutgers Institute for Nicotine and Tobacco Studies is one of the nation's leading tobacco focused research centers and its faculty have received over $50 million in extramural funding over the past two decades. The Institute's efforts are focused on their mission of reducing and ultimately eliminating, tobacco-related morbidity and mortality.
Five Centers or Programs currently operate at the Institute including a Tobacco Center for Regulatory Science, the Center of Excellence for Rapid Surveillance of Tobacco, the Tobacco Dependence Program, a Tobacco Industry Marketing Program, and a Tobacco Control Law & Policy Resource Center.

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist III for the Rutgers Institute for Nicotine & Tobacco Studies at Rutgers Biomedical and Health Sciences (RBHS), located in New Brunswick, NJ. The Research Teaching Specialist III will conduct specialized tobacco research, using judgment to adapt methods and techniques; and assist with budgetary, training and administrative responsibilities
Duties include:
Assist in the establishment of performance standards, as well as in the selection of methodology and instrumentation.
As assigned, carry out various technical and research operations relating to investigatory activities of the research project. May assist in organizing and conducting specialized research activities for a particular research project.
Assist with the instructing and training of students, fellows and technicians in various techniques and procedures to develop the skills necessary to carry out assignments in research assistants.
May coordinate, supervise and evaluate the work of support staff.
Compile and presents statistical data with appropriate conclusions and recommendations. Assist in the preparation of grant applications for the funding of research activities.

Qualifications

Master's Degree in a relevant science plus one (1) year of related research experience, or a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
