Posting Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Research Teaching Specialist II for the Department of OB/GYN and Reproductive Sciences at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

The primary role of this position, under the direction of the Principal Investigator, is to manage daily clinical and population research activities and to function as the primary contact for various external collaborators, and interinstitutional departments to ensure compliance with institutional, federal, and state regulatory agencies.

Among the key duties of this position are the following:

  • Assists the PI and the team with the design, planning, and implementation of studies, including designing the statistical approach plans for data analysis.

  • Prepares data collection forms, surveys, tables, and figures.

  • Develops and implements data and statistical analyses, data collection systems, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.

  • Interprets data and analyzes results using cutting-edge statistical techniques.

  • Assist with drafting of manuscripts for peer-reviewed publications.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience

  • Master's Degree in a relevant science, Preference will be given to Master's in Epidemiology, Biostatistics or Statistics. plus two (2) years of related research experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a relevant science plus three (3) years of related research experience.

Certifications/Licenses Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and take initiative, as appropriate.

  • Must be computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools, and Microsoft Office suite.

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively with multidisciplinary medical professionals, cancer patients, and cancer survivors.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience with intellectual property negotiations including patent applications, IND applications, and technology transfer agreements.

  • Advanced Knowledge of programming for data management and advanced knowledge of cutting-edge statistical analysis skills for SAS /R implementation.

Equipment Utilized Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Physical Demands: Attending meetings and regular computer use requires sitting and using hands to finger, handle or feel over 2/3 of the time. Due to the location of our clinical facilities, standing and walking can be expected up to 2/3 of the time. Typing and writing requires reaching with hands and arms up to 2/3 of the time. Lifting medical records, case report forms and laboratory supplies can require lifting up to 50 lbs. in addition to stooping, kneeling or crouching for such materials 1/3 of the time.

  • Work Environment: Moderate noise (examples: business office with computers and printers, light traffic).
