The College of Arts & Sciences, University of Miami, is soliciting applications for individuals interested in a Research Support Specialist position providing research and strategic planning support to advance the Master of Public Administration (MPA) Program housed in the Department of Political Science. This individual will report directly to the MPA Program Director and will serve to expand the scope of the Department's MPA Program by aiding in the development and execution of a robust research agenda in the field of Public Administration.

Primary responsibility includes conducting multi-disciplinary background research on topics in Public Administration, Political Science, Ethics, and Psychology, including extensive searches of online databases and library holdings for relevant literature and data; collecting, organizing and analyzing data on applicants, students, and alumni; analyzing trends in the Department and the discipline as a whole, conducting job market research, and evaluating the viability of initiatives proposed by the faculty. Position requires a highly organized individual who is proficient in MS Office (with advanced knowledge of Excel and Access) and able to manage multiple work flows simultaneously.

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree Public Administration, Political Science, or related fields and 2 years relevant experience. MA degree preferred. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be detail-oriented; effective time management skills, strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

General Overview: The Infrastructure Support Specialist is responsible for the installation, support and maintenance of hardware and software utilized by the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. This individual builds, installs and tests hardware, software and security solutions prior to deployment. They also evaluate and recommend hardware, software and related technologies for implementation. The Infrastructure Support Specialist provides technical support to over 300 users and 400 computers and peripherals in a complex, multi-campus information systems environment, which supports revenue generation and public relations for the University. Essential Responsibilities: * Configures, installs and provides support of infrastructure, security and desktop solutions utilized by the Division of Development and Alumni Relations. * Monitors and resolves service tickets timely, performs escalations to other University departments as needed while serving as point of contact for Division staff ensuring excellent customer service delivery. * Submits trouble tickets and coordinates resolution with internal and external technology providers. * Schedules and coordinates updates/patching of technology components within area of responsibility. * Evaluates computing usage information and proactively recommends enhancements to meet the technology demands of the Division. * Develops and writes technical documentation, and provides training to end users. * Maintains hardware and software inventory for the Division. * Performs troubleshooting of issues related to e-mail, network, software applications, and computer configurations utilized by the Division. * Supports and troubleshoots mobile device configuration. * Evaluates and recommends infrastructure related technologies for implementation. * Creates reports on usage and metrics as needed. * Enforces and make recommendations related to infrastructure best practices, policies and standards. * Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Minimum 3 years in-depth, hands-on experience in support of networked, personal computer applications and computer users with various proficiency levels. Undergraduate degree in Computer Science or technical certification in computer-related studies is highly desirable. bility to work with minimal supervision and to make sound decisions, escalating when necessary, to ensure continued availability of computer hardware and network resources and services. Ability to manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines and to maintain high level of professional conduct and courtesy in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Excellent technical problem solving skills. Strong analysis and software troubleshooting experience. Ability to communicate orally and in writing as a customer service provider, at a level sufficient to provide technical information to technical and non-technical customers, to maintain contact with vendors and University representatives, and to provide end-users with guidance on the capabilities of supported systems. Demonstrated knowledge of computer hardware, including installation, operation, security, maintenance, and network and telecommunications requirements. Advanced knowledge of server & desktop operating systems and applications: Microsoft Windows (all current versions), Microsoft Office (all current versions), and Apple (Mac OS). Skilled in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail. Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines. Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion. Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary. Commitment to the University's core values.
