Persons appointed to this position will receive the privileges and benefits associated with regular employment status.Duties:In partnership with the Director of CLAS Grants Support office and College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Grants Support Office, this position will provide fiscal and administrative support in proposal preparation, budgeting, negotiations, and administration of grant and contract awards in the department of Biology and other CLAS departments as assigned.Responsible for pre- and post-award management with a high degree of complexity, including various sub agreements from both federal and non-federal funding sources, ensuring compliance with federal and University cost principles.Assist Principal Investigators (PI) with preparation of research proposals for external funding by preparing budgets and supporting materials.Prepare budgets for grant, contract, and sub-award proposals, renewals, and periodic reports in accordance with federal, UI, and private foundations policies/deadlines.Independently and proactively forecast and manage accounts; provide independent post-award financial management of grants and contracts, including ongoing training of actual and projected expenditures.Analyze and reconcile monthly financial statements for a multimillion portfolio of departmental grants. This includes forecasting and monitoring financial projections from grant budgets and salary release departmental accounts.Monitor compliance with contract/ grant terms in accordance with University policies and state and federal regulations.Process requisitions for subcontract awards on grants, prepare required documents; monitor subcontract purchase orders to ensure sub-awardee institutions invoicing and payments are prompt.
