Job Summary

The Research Statistician I independently applies logic to set up cohort based on data plan provided. Manages and manipulates data; performs statistical programming using statistical software; learns and applies new statistical theory and techniques for ongoing projects or proposals; conducts statistical analyses; and supports the preparation of manuscripts for peer-reviewed journals. The analyst works closely with senior statisticians in developing analytic plans and applying new and existing statistical methods.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned or directed in order to meet the goals and objectives of the research group.

Required Education and Experience

Required Education: MS biostatistics, statistics, clinical epidemiology, health services research, economics or a related field

Required Experience:

  • At least one (1) year of relevant experience

  • At least three (3) years of experience in base SAS, SAS/SQL, SAS/STAT, SAS/GRAPH and SAS MACROS

Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic

Additional Technical Requirements

  • Statistical expertise in programming of common statistical methods in medical and clinical related research

  • Familiar with database utilization in statistical analysis, like MS Access, FileMaker Pro, Oracle, MS SQL server

  • Familiar with both UNIX system and Windows OS system

  • High-level of personal initiative; ability to work independently as well as collaborate in teams and with people from all business areas

  • Strong written and oral communication skills; must be able to communicate clearly

  • Detail-oriented with excellent validation and documentation skills

The Leukodystrophy Center also hosts a comprehensive basic science and clinical research program focused on the characterization and treatment of individual leukodystrophies. Job Responsibilities 1. Collect and maintain study data as required for specific clinical research protocols (90%) * Function independently in patient care areas including the Operating Room, the outpatient ambulatory areas, Inpatient and Outpatient care units, and the Emergency Room to collect specific study data * Utilize appropriate resources, including the Clinical Research Manager, to collect data accurately and completely. * Complete data collection forms as required for the study in a timely manner. * Enter information in computer databases for the study in a timely manner * Provide information on the data collected to appropriate persons as directed. * Provide timely information to the Principal Investigator on the progress of data collection for the study. * Communicate any difficulties or problems in collecting data as prescribed immediately to the Clinical Research Manager or the Principal Investigator. * Collect, process, and deliver biologic specimens. 2. Assist with quality improvement activities as related to research protocols (5%) * Help to develop systems by which quality becomes continuous * Perform chart and data reviews to assess compliance of data with IRB and other regulatory agencies * Report results to Clinical Research Manager and/or Principal Investigator. 3. Further own professional development (5%) * Participate in preparation and presentation of research within the Department and the Institution. * Attend Department research conferences * Maintain relationships that foster multidisciplinary research 4.
