Department Summary
The Institute for Translational Research is devoted to bringing novel diagnostics and interventions to patients and families suffering from neurodegenerative diseases, fostering translational research in neurodegenerative diseases at UNTHSC, and Create solutions for a healthier community. Our team spans basic "bench-top" science, clinical research, community-based research and clinical trials. Our translational approach is intended to foster discovery and expedite those discoveries toward the benefit of those suffering from brain disease. A particular emphasis of ITR is the development of personalized (or person-focused) medicine for Alzheimer's disease.
Position Overview
The position will contribute to research projects by applying advanced statistical techniques, analyzing complex data sets, and providing insights that support the institute's mission. This position is ideal for someone with strong analytical abilities, a solid foundation in statistical methods, and a passion for contributing to impactful research.
Minimum Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Clear, effective communication skills; e.g. emails to ask about or convey rules, regulations and procedures or ability to explain same verbally
Interpersonal skills to maintain excellent relationships with researchers and various offices across the level of the institution
Attention to detail and high level of accuracy
Time management skills including ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines
General administrative experience with budgets, purchasing, payroll, travel, scheduling, etc
Skill in budget planning, analysis, reconciliation and forecasting
Ability to determine when decisions can be appropriately made and when they must be referred to a higher level, to protect institutional integrity
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
Knowledge of safety and security precautions appropriate to work performed

Job Duties:
Data Analysis: Apply advanced statistical methods and models to analyze complex data sets from various research projects with rapid turnaround of analyses.
Statistical Modeling: Develop and implement statistical models to address research questions and hypotheses
Data Management: Oversee data collection, data cleaning, and preparation processes to ensure data integrity and accuracy.
Collaboration: Work closely with researchers, scientists, and other stakeholders to understand research objectives and provide statistical expertise.
Report Generation: Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations summarizing statistical findings, methodologies, and interpretations.
Methodological Development: Contribute to the development and refinement of statistical methods and tools to enhance research capabilities.
Training and Support: Provide guidance and support to research staff on statistical analysis techniques and software.
Literature Review: Stay current with emerging statistical methodologies and technologies relevant to the research institute's projects.
