Position Summary
This position is for a Research Specialist to serve as a lab and animal manager under the supervision of the lab Pl, Dr. Loeser. The Loeser lab conducts basic cell biology experiments in the field of arthritis using human cells and tissues as well as experiments in mouse models of arthritis. The lab manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of the lab including lab safety, training of students and supervises a research technician. The animal work includes submission and maintenance of ACUC protocols, mouse colony maintenance and collecting tissues at the time of necropsy.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor's degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Must have in-depth knowledge and experience with the handling and breeding of mice. Must have the ability to work independently, with the ability to conduct research experiments and techniques with little to no supervision. Must demonstrate excellent communication skills. Must be knowledgeable in lab safety compliance measures.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
A minimum of 5 years' experience in handling mice, including breeding and colony maintenance, is strongly preferred. Experience training/supervising research lab members in preferred.
